Woman Wandering Aimlessly Through Pattaya's Streets in Tattered Clothes Sparks Plea for Help

A video clip has emerged of a mentally ill Thai woman, believed to be in her 30s or 40s, walking aimlessly through Pattaya's streets while wearing tattered clothes.

Her disheveled appearance has sparked a plea for assistance. The footage captures her journey along Soi Phetchtrakuun and North Pattaya Road in Nakhlua, Banglamung District, Chonburi Province.

The person who filmed the clip was unaware of her mental condition or the circumstances leading to her dilapidated attire. A comprehensive assessment is crucial to address this matter and mitigate any negative impact on the city's tourism image, reported Naew Na.

Friday (May 26, 2023), reporters visited the location and interviewed Mr. Sayam Gachit, a 64-year-old owner of a nearby noodle shop.

He revealed that the woman, known as Miss Kim, used to be a regular customer and was regarded as a kind individual.

Approximately ten years ago, she had an appealing appearance akin to a bar girl. However, it is unclear whether her current condition is a result of alcohol or substance abuse.

Recently, Mr. Gachit noticed her walking without proper attire and quickly offered her some clothes. Surprisingly, she declined to wear them, stating, "I prefer to walk like this."

Kim's sightings in tattered clothes have become a familiar sight. She often travels from Soi 6 at Pattaya Beach to the Phetchtrakuun Road area, attracting the attention of both locals and tourists.

Her actions, including performing rituals at various intersections within the alleyways, have raised concerns. While local authorities have been informed and attempted to intervene,

Kim reappears shortly after their intervention, continuing her aimless wandering. Thus, urgent and concerted efforts are necessary to extend genuine assistance or provide appropriate facilities for individuals in similar circumstances.

I see many Thais daily around Pattaya with obvious mental issues

It's many years (if not a decade) ago that the "ghost/crazy lady" was wandering around the Soi 7/beachroad area. In extreme mental condition shouting aggressively, talking to herself. Completely white-faced (what probably gave her the name "ghost lady").

She earned some publicity. Vanished unnoticed.

Well this individual seems perfectly happy, but I agree 'Appropriate Facilities' are needed, on my rare visits to Patts I always see characters like this, and most if not all are women.

Yeah I think I remember her... she also walked up and down soi Honey. Very thin and a powder caked face. She talked to me once and came over as not so crazy as she looked.... or maybe I am moreso,

Easy fix, just apply for her to be recognised as a natural cultural heritage and nominate her for UNESCO World Heritage status.

Tourists will have to pay to watch her stroll around.

Buakhao we have the Thai lady who shouts loudly at invisible people, really loud voice, been walking round for years.

Yesterday a lady with grey powder on her legs squats down on Pattaya Tai by the shops and drops a big one, in front of everyone, she did it in a plastic bag but didn't care the street was busy.

and many many more

If it is the same one I am thinking of it is closer to two decades ago.

This particular lady gets down to Beach Road as well giving all the benefit of her opinion including about her farang boyfriend (poor him) and the current Government. My other half advises that she is from a wealthy family and she is always dressed in decent clean clothes.

One homeless guy almost drowned in Pattaya's sea about a month ago. I saw him floating while I was swimming nearby, and, when I realised it, I pulled him out. Read later online that he was resuscitated at the hospital, and that he was homeless. He was very lucky; a bit longer head-down in the water, and he would have been gone. Life-guards tried for more than 20 minutes to bring him back on the beach while waiting for an ambulance to arrive, but without success.

May be. First visit in 2004, not quite two decades.

There is a closed thread (picture removed) about a "ghost lady" from 2008.

She and the "golden guy" on his bicycle are two memories from long ago.

Her name is Anne so I was told over 12 years ago when she first started shouting off outside Sawasdee Siam on Bukhaow... the story told to me at the time was  of her farang boyfriend dumping her for another.... just before COVID kicked in she started selling fruit on Beach Road for a while ????

I see her regularly near my condo just off Naklua Road. That last time I seen her was mid morning, she had some sort of T Shirt over her shoulder and was naked from the waist up. Her Bristols suggest she is totally under nourished, as she had tits like a teenage boy. I'd say it's substance abuse over many years. Thailand is a very cruel country  for these types of people, they will die in a soi some where but nobody cares.

I know of many foreigners who wonder aimlessly everywhere in Pattaya and they don't attract any attentions.

Singha wife beaters, speedos and flip flops are not considered 'tatterd clothes'

I know that many Thais do help these unfortunate people with food, clothes and cash.

The lady in the OP often hops onto a baht bus and pays her fare when she gets off. I think she collects empty plastic bottles and cashes them in somewhere.

I was just about to mention I saw several Thai women that looked destitute or vagrant while sitting on Soi Buakhao yesterday.

Mental illness can be disastrous to those without a support system. Some type of schizophrenia perhaps. Sad. I don’t know of government support system programs here.

Could well be her, always wore a denim jacket. Remember Glitterman. Guess it isn't too good for an Englishman to have Glitter in his name out this way anymore.
