A shocking incident unfolded in Songkhla Province when a Facebook user shared a video clip depicting a woman lying on the road next to a damaged car, while a man brandishing a hammer seemed to threaten her. The caption suggested a robbery, but it was discovered to be a domestic dispute between a police officer and his wife.

The video quickly circulated on social media, sparking concerns about the violent incident. However, a subsequent investigation revealed that the truth was far from what was portrayed in the post. It was not a criminal act but rather an altercation between a husband and wife.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 4, 2023, in Kamnunruji Alley 3, Kham Subdistrict, Sadao District, Songkhla Province. Upon receiving a report, the Sadao Police Station dispatched officers and a rescue team to the scene.

They found a 45-year-old woman with head injuries, in a dazed state. She revealed that her husband, a Police Captain stationed at the Mueang Satun Police Station, assaulted her following an argument over her attendance at a friend's birthday party, reported Thai Rath.

The husband, in a fit of rage, had damaged their Mazda sedan with a hammer, causing extensive destruction.

The investigation team revisited the scene and documented the severely damaged vehicle, with shattered windows.

The husband's actions were captured as evidence, and efforts are underway to bring him to the Sadao Police Station for further questioning.

Meanwhile, the wife, currently receiving medical treatment at Sadao Hospital, has not filed a formal complaint but is ensuring her safety.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic disputes peacefully and avoiding violence within families.

The police clarified that the initial social media post's portrayal of a robbery was misleading, emphasizing that it was an isolated incident involving a police officer and his wife.

Investigations into the matter continue as authorities strive to ensure justice is served.

Hardly "shocking".  Seems to be a daily occurrence in Thailand.

They probably meant the shocking damage to the car.

This story reeks of the classic bs published constantly to deflect facts.

The story claims it was not a crime committed but just Domestic altercation, which implies it's beating up your wife and damaging the car is not good but still OK  and not a crime that it happen since it was just a marital dispute. And no where near as serious as a "real crime".

The wife is in the hospital and hasn't filed a report and is just ensuring her safety. That's code for " if you file a legal complaint the beating you got already is nothing compared to what will happen next".

Meanwhile the police just twiddle their thumbs and do zero law enforcement.

The incident is sickening, as is the official attitude and the groveling 'journalism' that slavishly reports the official line.

A woman assaulted by a hammer wielding thug (who just happens to be a cop surprise surprise) is faced with the pressure from everywhere that it's not a clear cut case of GBH with intent but 'just' a 'domestic'.

So much effort needed, they'll need a sit down after all that, to prepare for the exhausting pointing at a car.

Problem is he cannot get to the police station as he has no car to drive there!!!!????????????????????????????????

Nonsense.

You just made all that up.

Watch the link on the news.

He handed himself in.

He has been charged.

He has lost his job.

He is in custody.

Stop imagining stuff.

Well... IF the Aussie received a fine of 10,000 baht and damages of 40,000 baht for the damage he caused to the wing mirror of a van...

What penalty can we expect here ???...

It has been reported that he has been dismissed from the police force, he has been charged and is in custody waiting his court case.

It seems you are just imagining things.

Again.

Aseannow has a new "translator" of stories.

They are not always accurate and usually contains this sort of stuff that tends to wind up people who can not see through it.

This has been reprted extensively in the Thai language news who have not claimed it was not a criminal act. They have reported that it was earlier claimed on Facebook that it was a random attack, but found not to be.

Nope... I didn’t imagine what appeared to be an excessive fine and excessive damages to the Aussie guy given the normal response for Thai on Foreigner aggression in Thailand... most people commenting on that thread seem to agree.

That said, it is good that firm action was taken in this example and the Policeman has been dismissed from the force, now then also need to ensure someone as unhinged has this guy has no access to weapons.

If in fact the cop owned the vehicle in his own name only, maybe not  a crime. I am obviously not commenting on the matter of assault etc.

IF as you suggest the vehicle is owned by the Policeman (ex), I wonder if the insurance will pay for repairs....  Usually insurance would have a deliberate damage clause.

I doubt a Thai insurance company would refuse a claim from a Thai policeman, no matter what the cause of the damage.
