Which doctor for pain after massage

Featured Replies

Hello, a couple of days ago I went to a Thai massage. Now I got pain in the left neck and shoulder plate. I also developed tingling and numbness on my left hand.

Im getting worried and want to have it checked.

Can you recommend a doctor to consult, if possible in bumrungrad as they have all my records etc.

Thank you in advance.

As they have your records Bumrungrad would appear to be the right place to go and ask? I am sure they could recommend a specialist?

Sounds like a trapped nerve but maybe better to check

I would suggest before you go that route of paying, to try a number of very simple exercises that may help or even remove your problem.

You tube  has many.

Here is an example.

I had vertebrae pain for one month after a Thai massage.  Only foot massage now, but even then they will stretch hamstrings and achilles as if you are a 20 year old got to tell them what not to do.

OP, I would get some Ibuprofen and take it for a week before I jump to the hospital.

Would not have a Thai massage for free, nearly crippled by one many years ago, too many are not qualified even if they do have a bit of paper with Wat Po on it. I stick to those chairs at central.

Can be a prolapse, and therefore the tingling numb feeling in your arm. Be careful to do exercises for awhile, and do not go to a chiropractor!

Medication can help for awhile, and naproxen have been good for me when I had my inflammation due to several prolapses, but bear in mind it can take time before the numbness goes away. A specialist is necessary and most likely a MRI check.

neurologist, obviously.

heard many scary stories about crippled people after "innocent and beneficial for your health" thai massage.

simply put - stay away from it as far as possible, just like avoiding street food (actually any). What's in common? they have no clue what exactly they are doing.

Thanks for all the helpful comments. I followed the suggestion to wait a bit and took ibuprofen. After a couple of days I feel better.
