Popular Post snoop1130
A 54 year old man, Nakorn Mhodcrue, accidentally shot himself while examining his homemade gun in Ratchaburi province, Thailand. Family members rushed him to a hospital, but he died en route, collapsing on the road 100 metres from where the incident took place. At the scene of the accident, on a road near the family home, investigators found a substantial amount of blood along with a blue shirt and a homemade long-barrelled Thai gun. The weapon appeared to have been damaged; the barrel had been broken due to a misfire. Nakorn’s relatives revealed that he was a construction contractor and a gun aficionado. In his free time, he enjoyed adjusting and test-firing his firearms, mainly for hunting and fishing purposes, reported Khaosod. On the day of the incident, Nakorn attempted to test-fire his homemade gun, but it failed to discharge. In an effort to fix the issue, he used a metal object to strike the barrel against the ground, which caused the gun to misfire and the bullet to penetrate his left chest area. Desperate for help, Nakorn asked his family to take him to the hospital. They attempted to transport him by motorbike, but he lost consciousness and collapsed on the road, where he passed away shortly after. billd766
Rule #1 with ANY weapon that fires bullets. NEVER point a weapon at anybody unless you want to kill them. Rule #2 Unload the weapon, and make sure there is no round in the breech or up the spout, before you do anything else with it. Those 2 rules were hammered into me when I did my annual range firing practice in the RAF. I have seen the range master kick a guy because he tried to turn around with a loaded rifle in his hands, and it wasn't a gentle kick either. roger101
He used them for hunting and fishing. The hunting bit I can understand but the fishing. Unless it was for other fisherman who wanted to steal his catch.

Not quite what I would call a "gun aficionado". 1

Or a WRAF turning round on the range saying 'it's jammed'.

spidermike007
There are very basic skills required to handle guns. Number one, is you never fool around with a gun, or attempt a repair, while it is loaded. Darwin was right. The theory of natural selection, means we all have to exhibit certain survival skills, to thrive in this world. Self protection is just one of those skills. Some have it, some do not. Popular Post billd766
IIRC from the 1980s, to clear the 7.62 MM Slr rifle, I had to take the magazine off, cock and fire the rifle 3 times down the range, on the 4 cock with the breech open ,I had to put my thumb in the breech, point the gun upwards and check if I saw light from the barrel on my thumbnail. If that was OK, lay the rifle down pointing towards the butts, step backwards 2 or 3 paces and report gun cleared. On the 25 yard range my shooting was so good that they used the target again. I was advised that in the event of a real war to give all my ammunition to everybody else and use the rifle as a club to beat the Russian soldiers to death.
PETERTHEEATER
This needs to be added to the Excuse Bank under: "It's a misunderstanding" "The brakes failed" "The road was wet" "I DIDN'T KNOW THE GUN WAS LOADED"
