  • I haven't propped up a bar stool for nearly ten years now. IMO Chiang Rai is an ideal jumping-off point for the Golden Triangle sights. Phu Chi Fa, Phayao, Wat Sang Kaew Phothiyan, Doi Mae Salong

  • Phu Chi Fa is a fairly strenuous walk which requires good footwear. Halfway up, there is a side track which leads to a marker delineating the border between Thailand and Laos. At the top, I was lookin

Any accommodations I post, should assume it's 'pet friendly', usually comfy basic, unless obviously not, and not in the main tourist area.  Which justifies the cost, usually <฿1000, unless in Krung Thep area.

Location always noted and info on Gmaps

Also means that there are probably better values available.

On that note, some others, that I'd probably stay at again.  Looking at my Gmap reviews, so these are obviously pet friendly with comfy enough bed.  Only 2 things I need, besides parking.

If need to be in the area, and travel with a pet, worth a peek ...

Ibis (chain hotel) of course, most pet friendly

Apple House … Phrae

Baan Panmala GH … Ao Luek, Krabi

Natai House … Natai, Phang Nga

Anita Dream House … Khao Sok area, Surat Thani

Sillemon Garden Hotel .. Lat Phrao,BKK

Sea Stone Hotel … Sichon, Nakhon Si Thammarat

Tree Home Plus Homestay … Nakhon Si Thammarat

Thur Hostel … PKK

Just the ones I took the time to review on Gmap.  Plenty others if needing a recommendation.  I may be able to help.  We're off the beaten track and budget travelers, so probably lacking amenities some require, that we wouldn't use.

I do more reviews about munchies that hotels, if curious about those ...

So local exploring, if you live in Cha Am area, you have a couple parks there, might be worth taking a peek out, if haven't yet.

Khao Nang Panthurat Forest Park ... set in a 'rocky' area, and wise use of.   If adventurous, can go 'up' to some nice viewpoints.  Emphasis on up, and I gave it a pass.  Maybe if having younger knees & hips and not carrying 2 camera kits.   There's also a coffee shop there, if just wanting to chill.   Nicely maintained landscaping.  Plus of no entrance fee.

Cha-am Forest Park ... and this one would be excellent if you have a walking routine for exercise, as lots of shade provide.  Went there to see if I could get a couple snaps of resident Gibbons.  But not making an appearance.

Nice if living in the area, though can't say worth the 2 hr drive for us.   Maybe if doing the full 'up' trail around the viewpoints.

Some local O&A, about 1 hr and 1.5 hours South of us.  Cafe De Wa worth popping in for a munch, or a stay @ Arcadia Ban Krut, as the coffee shop & restaurant, I think as food came from that direction.

2nd vid, if in the area and bored, or just interested what else to see.  A different small bey, and decent hotel & coffee shop there.

@Hummin  If planning on going to Khao Sok NP, then staying in town, on the road to the park, has a lot more options, along with food options.

If going out on Cheow Lan lake, then stay near the pier, as I think most tours, boats leave from there and NOT from KSNP, I think.   The pier & park are about 65 kms apart, by road.

A better option than KS Gallery is ...

... 'Khao Sok River Home Resort', we didn't stay there as they no longer take pets.

With the fog 🙄

Do your own research on this on this one (as you always should), but wife, into farming, wasn't that impressed.   Via their FB page, good for kids to get out of the classroom for the day :coffee1:
