New 1 year DTAC 30mbps sim mystery

Featured Replies

i had a DTAC unlimited speed 60gb a month sim, speeds where i live was around 30mbps so on expiry i bought the DTAC 30mbps unlimited data sim.

Strangely in the same tablet it struggles to get 5mbps, but if i put in my phone it gets 30mbps. What's the reason for that? I'm thinking it's because the tablet only has 3G and 4G. Phone does show 4G+ sometimes.

Strange as the tablet was getting 30mbps no problem previously

4G+ usually mean Carrier Aggregation. In other words LTE bands being utilised simultaneously. Your tablet might not have that function.
Add a full speed day pack to the SIM and then put it in the tablet to see if that makes a difference. They may give priority to full/high speed packages.

Must be something different about this sim, previous DTAC sim achieved 30mbps using tablet 4G only.

I have both DTAC and AIS sims in my phone now, kinda making the slower AIS redundant

I have the same DTAC Sim plan, recently purchased.

I've never had close to 30 in my 4g SIM router.

I think 10 max.

The 15 DTAC that I first tested with was getting relatively better speeds to the stated limit.

But it's actually good enough speed for my needs.

Also, it blocks torrents, but OK with a VPN.

I'm interested in a 5g sim router but I'm not seeing any that aren't super expensive.

I'll keep testing it. I only recently started using it so maybe it'll get better (hope springs eternal).

That’s why I’ve suggested a full speed day pack, to check if the give full speed packs priority.

your 4G router may have the same problem as my 4G Tablet, get new router or do what i did, stick it in a phone that can handle it

probably a good idea, but in my phone gives 30mbps so sim isn't limited when in the phone, so a device issue with that sim

I tested in a phone first.

Same type of results.

It's a new router.

Perhaps something dodgy with this SIM offer?

I recall hearing there is a 100 Mbps AIS sim current offer but with a data limit. Can someone point to that offer on Lazada or Shoppee?

With DTAC it does depend where you live, in Pratumnak i was getting 30mbps, I don't think it was that good elsewhere. It's possible you are just in a lower speed area, rather than a router\phone issue

Yeah well like I said I did a test first with ANOTHER DTAC Sim that was 15 Mbps. That's why I bought the annual plan at 30 because the 15 performed pretty well in my location.

I don't understand what one DTAC Sim would be OK and another sub par in the SAME location.

Again, your phone is capable of CA.

Anyway…

I applied a 30Mbps pack to a DTAC SIM and it was PP at my location. When I complained, they added a full speed pack to the SIM and the speed improved….

I could get the full 30Mbps whilst outside on my phone.

I scrapped the SIM after the month was up. Even though they offered 10GB of full speed for free.

What happens when you choose Advanced and then choose to go to the page anyway. It looks like the Browser is blocking you, rather than the ISP.

Yes, blocked. Use Opera’s free proxy service… or Proton’s free VPN.

I finally called DTAC to unblock the porn, they can't do that apparently but they did say how to do it on the phone, basically change the DNS away from DTAC
