Did the pandemic start in 2018 and they kept it quiet?

After rocketing upward since the start of April, Thailand's publicly reported COVID stats have been steadily falling for the past several weeks, which is good news.

 

Not back below what they were pre-Songkran, but much lower than the post Songkran weeks:

 

Latest MoPH weekly report for June 25 to July 1:

 

--859 new COVID hospitalizations last week, averaging 122 per day (red in the chart).

 

--43 new COVID deaths last week, averaging 6 per day (dark gray in the chart).

 

--255 COVID hospitalized patients in serious condition (dark purple in the chart).

 

--166 COVID hospitalized patients requiring intubation in order to breathe (light purple in the chart).
