An article approvingly linked from the article here says he admitted to taking $500,000 of his fans' money in a Ponzi scheme.

 

It looks like he's finally experiencing the rewards of his general behaviour.

 

And as for other people here complaining that lewd display is normal in Thailand, this is different because it involves distribution of obscene content for money over the internet. Thailand is notoriously strict on this.

Was checking on this week in Italy. A tourist was scratching his initials in the wall of Colosseum.

Many others did before, but now he was filmed. They did a hunt on him and was caught. Waiting for big fine.

Then i came up to some other tourist events 2016, a guy in prison in Myanmar. He was annoyed with the sound out of a speaker from Bhudist monk preaching. So he unplugged the speaker, which costed him 3 months in jail. However he did as the sound was so hard, they couldnt sleep, not even normally talk in their hotel room.????

2018, 9 people in jail for a month in Cambodia, dancing "pornographic" (saw some pics, they were even dressed! not harmful)in swimming pool. Lucky for them just a month, as was said they could end up in jail for a year.

2015 a woman was caught making pics of her naked bottom at a temple in Cambodia.

Why the F***k you do something like this? Well there are studies, pffff.????

 

So called influencers think they need to do these things to put it on internet and get famous and wealthy.????????

 

Im now waiting on stories about Indonesia, they made a law stating only married people can sleep together and have sex. ALSO applies for foreigners ! Whoopy !  How idiot it can gets from the other side, government.

I doubt he will get a jail sentence. Probably just deported with a blacklist ban for a while.

His girlfriend was their in the restaurant with him and part of the act that was to be broadcast for his social media platforms which in all accounts is his full time job being that he has over 700k subscribers on one platform he appears to be quite successful.

I will say something unpopular. 

Many western tourists have the false impression that Thailand is an anything goes place.

It's understandable why they would think that.

It actually is anything goes for some things but crazy conservative on others. 

I think misbehaving tourists should usually just be given a tongue wagging and deported.

Yes, Alcohol is completely banned in Saudi Arabia.  If caught with alcohol as a foreign national (If a Saudi citizen you could get away with it) you could get lashes, a prison sentence or possibly deported, but not executed.

Um, in a word, no. I've asked the same question ever since I came here 10 years ago and saw the silliness of foreigners. Myself, I studied the place and culture for quite a few years before I came and I had no real problems except for a very few that were due to some (ya think?) misinterpretations of my surroundings. It's always baffling to people like us who are blessed with common sense when we see people who apparently have none.

Of COURSE this is an idle threat he makes. Most likely, if he'd just shut his mouth and shown a little humility, 500 baht and a sincere wai would have gotten him out of this strait. Instead, he's challenging authorities way beyond his comprehension. Som nom na.

I was jailed once in the US with no one to bail me out, based on a false accusation, and the despair I felt was crushing, and though I said nothing I was in fact suicidal. I had a complete emotional breakdown by the time I got out. We can only speculate, but that may very well be how he feels. Happens all the time, why do you think they take your belt and shoelaces when you get jailed? This kid has parents, family who care about him and they don't deserve to see him die. I would say that if he's not otherwise prone to depression that as time passes his suicidal impulses may pass. Strategically, going public with a suicide threat might help prevent him from disappearing into a Thai jail indefinitely, which is a reasonable goal. And what he did was a victimless crime, for which I hardly think the death penalty applies. If you're that twisted up about people you claim superiority over stealing your air that you would wish death on someone for a misdemeanor, perhaps you're the one whose humanity ought to be questioned. Based on that I would place you a few rungs lower than him on the ladder. And you can be sure I'm not the only one who views your comment that way. Making light of the topic of suicide speaks volumes about your character and values. But the big difference is, we're not worried about how much of "our air" you're breathing, we don't think that way.

What he was doing might be considered wierd by some. But, it was so utterly harmless. There is a billion dollar porn industry going on in hotels all over Thailand, the difference here is this guy managed to attract the wrong kind of attention by making noise, making himself too visible,  or otherwise screwing up. I suspect that the 5 years threat was trotted out prior to a negotiated settlement. That's what police did to me when I had a minor incident and got caught with pepper spray. First they emphasized how long a sentence I might get, then they said they'd rather not do that, then we negotiated a "fine" which I paid with no qualms, since I already knew how the game was played.
