Stream of despair: US livestreamer threatens to kill himself if jailed in Thailand for distributing obscene content

Featured Replies

The original story discloses that the guy has made a small fortune doing this, and it's quite likely that suddenly everyone now wants to wet their beak. We all know that porn sells, every Thai person knows there's a cottage industry here for it and that most hotels are brimming with porn creators, he must have committed a big blunder to attract the wrong kind of attention. Could be he picked the wrong hotel to do this, could be he copped an attitude toward the manager, maybe made a ridiculous amount of noise, could be he should have cleared it through the manager first and cut him in for a brown envelope. I don't think he's at any real risk, but now the gov't has a poster boy to make an example of and present this as a show case for the sake of tourism. I think they'll look at his income numbers, demand receipts and tax returns, bank account balances, and then come up with an appropriate "fine" with no further jail sentence, he may be deported or banned, or maybe not, maybe they'll want him to continue to bring them more revenue.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.   Seriously, do none of these people realise that they are in Thailand and the rules are different here?

  • He will not get 5 years in jail, that is probably the maximum sentence he is talking about. Admitting to the crime will already cut the sentence in half. He will get a good scare and be sent

Kinda freaky dude. However he will be popular in jail for sure by the name Paulina or Polly shortly.

A man dressing as a woman?  Isn't that illegal in LOS?

:cheesy:

There is a day during Brazilian Carnival when men dress as women.  The real drag queens get into it, but a lot of the straight guys do it up like in his pic.

Along with a donation to the judicial retirement fund.

He's not a drag queen.

It was in a PUBLIC SPACE in the hotel. It was obviously very poor judgement to do that.

I am all for helping a young man to reach his goals. I hope he does not have or make any childrein.

Yes, it was.

"Your air"? Really? That's how you think? Anyone you don't like is stealing "your" air? (yes I understand that it is a figure of speech, duh) What has this kid done that could possibly affect you in any way? So he's another dumb kid making big mistakes in the wrong place. He may even truly be an a-h. There's no way to know exactly his state of mind, he could be posing for sympathy, or he may be a real suicide risk. I was jailed once in the US with no one to bail me out, based on a false accusation, and the despair I felt was crushing, and though I said nothing I was in fact suicidal. I had a complete emotional breakdown by the time I got out. We can only speculate, but that may very well be how he feels. Happens all the time, why do you think they take your belt and shoelaces when you get jailed? This kid has parents, family who care about him and they don't deserve to see him die. I would say that if he's not otherwise prone to depression that as time passes his suicidal impulses may pass. Strategically, going public with a suicide threat might help prevent him from disappearing into a Thai jail indefinitely, which is a reasonable goal. And what he did was a victimless crime, for which I hardly think the death penalty applies. If you're that twisted up about people you claim superiority over stealing your air that you would wish death on someone for a misdemeanor, perhaps you're the one whose humanity ought to be questioned. Based on that I would place you a few rungs lower than him on the ladder. And you can be sure I'm not the only one who views your comment that way. Making light of the topic of suicide speaks volumes about your character and values. But the big difference is, we're not worried about how much of "our air" you're breathing, we don't think that way.

Wow - that was really special. Thank goodness I didn't waste time reading it after the first sentence as it was obviously an argument looking for a venue.

On learning he faces five years in jail for distribution of obscene content, Denion said…

“If I get five years, I’m just going to kill myself. I will not be able to survive in a Thai jail.”

What is he talking about?  He clearly has a marketable skill he can sell in jail... nothing to worry about. 5 years will be over in a wink.

Yes, Alcohol is completely banned in Saudi Arabia.  If caught with alcohol as a foreign national (If a Saudi citizen you could get away with it) you could get lashes, a prison sentence or possibly deported, but not executed.

yes but he had to sign to agree to be executed.......The hotel even had a bar, but no alcohol so they drank applejuice with soda as this is the closest to beer (at least from the color)

A warning now, stay civil or expect the post to be removed.

Maybe I am misunderstanding this, but if it was just for his girlfriend, couldn't he have just FaceTimed, or Skyped her rather than doing a livestream for everyone to see? Or was it a moneymaking scheme?

I doubt he will get a jail sentence. Probably just deported with a blacklist ban for a while.

Yeah he could have but his ego wouldn't let him. He wanted another boost by broadcasting it.

Dumb as dumb but who really cares.

I don't like his kind so I'm happy that he's in a lot of trouble for having some fun. Not that I'm a miserable sod or anything.

Why doesn't this guy (never heard of him) do what all perverts do: pay off the Thai police BEFORE he does his live stream? Everyone knows the RTP are corrupt. Cut them in on a small percentage, and stream.

he knows Thai law, he chose to violate Thai law and now he says he will kill himself if sentenced to jail? in as few words as possible, BYE! try not to make a mess.

he was reported for livestreaming himself dressed half-naked in women’s lingerie

Social media brings out all the nutcases.

Now the dear petal wants to kill himself.

The world is doomed, before social media these fruit loops were hiden in the closet.

I don’t think you get it.

The whole point was for the streaming.

He's made big money doing that.

I seriously doubt he would be doing such scenes privately.

No money in that.

I do get why people dislike this dude and the way he makes money.

But objectively speaking just deport him and be done with it.

It's not good for Thailand's brand to be seen as overly draconian. Most people come here to have fun.

To be fair, fined and deported is likely all that will happen.

Dude's the only one talking about five years, and his "apology" was just another attempt to generate revenue.

I do get it. He's in the <deleted> because he streamed it from Thailand. He's dumb enough not to do due diligence.

His claim that he'll kill himself rather than go to gaol in Thailand...  pffft.

Anyway, enough discussion about this low grade entertainer.

Well I agree that I wouldn't watch his stuff.
