Road Tax Renewal - in advance?

Featured Replies

My road tax and compulsory insurance (10 year old car) is up for renewal in early November, but I plan to make a quick trip out of Thailand around the time.

How many day or months in advance can I do the vehicle inspection and renewal?

Thanks.

Popped over to a vehicle inspection shop and they said I could do the inspection and renewal up to 90 days in advance.

It makes sense since I'd have to pass inspection before renewal anyway.

Just do it when your back

But be aware of a fine of a few Baht (about 8% of the total amount) for being late. Paying early does not hurt.

I have never been fined for being late.  Never heard of 8% fine
