Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-Md.) said he doesn’t think the legal challenges former President Donald Trump faces will help the 2024 GOP frontrunner in a general election.

 

Ivey, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, said he thinks the troubles with the law the former president faces are reinforcing his support only among “hardcore” Republican voters. Ivey said the challenges are “ensuring” a Biden win in another head-to-head matchup between the 2020 rivals. 

 

“I don’t think it’s making him stronger for the general election next November,” Ivey said on “The Hill” on NewsNation Friday.

No but also consider if convicted to a prison term because of practical issues about secret service protection, he won't be going to prison. It would be something like incarceration in his home. I think that's acceptable given his previous office, but I would hope they would impose prison style food on him just to be somewhat fair to all the other prisoners in the country.

Please enlighten us as to which heinous crimes Biden has committed that would come even remotely close to what Trump has done.
When is the last time Biden incited a mob to storm the Capitol? When is the last time Biden called a secretary of state and ordered him to find 11,780 votes? When is the last time Biden refused to give back classified documents, and even ordered his staff to hide those documents? When is the last time Biden put the squeeze on a foreign government to obtain dirt on a political opponent?

Trump egged on his supporters to ‘fight like hell’ on Jan. 6.

Trump watched the whole thing unfold on TV and for several hours did nothing to stop it.

Trump lied about the election being stolen from him, and is still lying about it. Even Rudi Giuliani is now admitting to that, that they knew all along that there was no ‘massive voter fraud’.

Trump is ranting and raving on his Truth Social, and he’s the one spewing personal insults.

The list goes on, and on, and on…

And how did that work out? Was it a hoax like the left claimed that the bidens were receiving huge amounts of money from Burisma that they could not account for, as Trump claimed? Should he have been impeached when he was factually correct in his assertions? Are the left embarrassed that the laptop was already verified by the FBI in 2019 and they had the FD1032 so they KNEW there was a there there and let the impeachment fiasco go ahead?

 

 These new charges look clearly political to me. Every time there is devastating news for the bidens and conspiracy theories coming true, they rush out some more BS charges against President Trump while censoring comparison to another "thief" of "stolen" classified material who never had Presidential power to take any.

The American "political journey" ( I have heard it described as an experiment) has always relied on the fact that those driving it have always essentially believed in the fundamental principles underpinning the republic. Whilst there may have been some close calls in the past, maybe it now faces it's nemesis in the bloated, strutting, amoral, self centred figure of Donald Trump; who seems to exercise a bizarre attraction to many of its citizens.
