Crossy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 The deadlier the better, I hate the gardener PPE can be provided (I have a wet-suit and SCUBA gear!). Seriously, we have couple of these chaps damaging our retaining wall, cut them off and they grow back stronger! Any thoughts on something that's available and will kill them off, permanently, no resurrection after three days please!! "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
Popular Post bbko Posted August 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 2, 2023 Whenever I have unwanted woody weeds or small trees popping up, I'll cut them as close to the root as possible and spray the stump with glyphosate, they don't grow back. Lazada link 7 1 1
Popular Post Jai Dee Posted August 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 2, 2023 Any product containing glyphosate should do it for you without making the soil sterile too. It is usually in stock at all HomePro outlets. /Edit - I don't usually cut the offending weed/tree off... I spray it directly onto the leaves as they have a larger surface area to absorb the herbicide. 3 1 1 Taoism: shit happens Buddhism: if shit happens, it isn't really shit Islam: if shit happens, it is the will of Allah Catholicism: if shit happens, you deserve it Judaism: why does this shit always happen to us? bignok Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Drill rusty nails in. Makes it rot. First cut back to 1 foot high then drill in a dozen nails. 1
bignok Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Rock salt can effectively kill tree roots by robbing them of water. To kill a tree discreetly, one can cut it down and tell her it must have gone back into hiding, pile it around the base, or dump salt at the bottom of the trunk. 1 1
Popular Post NoDisplayName Posted August 2, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 2, 2023 Glyphosphate. Available at any local market. Do not dilute. Cut off the main stem well above the ground surface. Use a small paintbrush to apply directly to the cut. If there are any stems/leaves below the cut, paint them also. For saplings and small trees, after you lop it, drill a few holes in the cut surface, then use a hypodermic syringe to squirt deeper inside. 2 2

digbeth Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 instructions for glyphosate for killing trees are to drill into the bark, then pour the glyphosate mixed with motor oil into it, supposed to rot away the stump too 1 1

Eloquent pilgrim Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Contact Sararat Rangsiwuthaporn, see if she’s still got some of her gear left …. pretty lethal stuff by all accounts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ 1
Dancealot Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Plant killers won't work on roots big like this. Bust the old concrete/ wood boards; remove the soil containing the unwanted roots. And rebuild. Farmers advice 1

Lazada link Yes. Glyphosate solution with 20 to 25% active ingredient is the most effective, if applied immediately according to directions for "cut stump" treatment. (48% glyphosate active ingredient, diluted 50:50 with water) There is nothing else like it. It is a systemic herbicide and will translocate throughout the plant tissues and kill the root system. Used this way on the outer circumference (sapwood) of the cut stump surface has the least environmental contamination. No need for drilling, motor oil or other variations. Don't overspray onto the soil or nearby plantings. Caution: glyphosate will readily translocate through root grafts to nearby trees of the same species. So if you have a situation where you want to kill some, leave some, use another method. BTW, no longer at HomePro, but check the independent plant markets outside in driveway/parking lot area. I don't think triclopyr is available, but if so it will be a lot more expensive and usually requires repeat treatment. https://growitbuildit.com/how-to-stop-tree-stumps-from-sprouting/#:~:text=In order to kill tree,no new sprouts will emerge. 2

GammaGlobulin Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 If you want plants dead, Dead, DEAD....!!! Try a little AGENT ORANGE.... If This Don't Kill It... Nothin' will. 1
blackcab Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Diesel, just don't go mad with it. You can drill small holes in the trunk and pump it in with a plastic syringe, and you can also paint it on. It will take a while, but it should kill off the roots aswell.
