What would you bring?

Featured Replies

If you left your home country today, what would you bring, or what do you useally bring with you after a visit? Food, alcohol, furniture, sports, or anything you could think of after living in Thailand for awhile!

What do you miss most?

Maggi 2 minute noodles (Chicken flavour) and work socks (Bonds Explorer).

Cannoli ... I really should make 'em ????  Already have the shell tubes.

Actually, I don't miss anything, as nothing I can't make here myself, food wise.   Anything else I can definitely get, and probably get cheaper ... thanks to CH being so close.  Can't think of any USA product I miss or want, or, that isn't made in CH ????

Have folks that will send me anything, piggy pack on their shipment, and haven't really used.  Last thing, was a Remington shaver, which I can actually get here, but was 1/5 th the price (without shipping), and actually is made in USA, I think.

Clothes, I'm too tall for most Thai clothing stores.

Then snacks/candy from back home that they don't sell here.

You tarp up with the blow up ?

Quality ear plugs. I brought back 1,000 pairs. Little dental flossers are another light packing item. And 2 bottles of Astroglide X, which is like the Veuve Cliquot of lubes. Quality ACE bandages in a few sizes. Lipitor.

For some unfathomable reason, extra-nice green and jasmine tea is very expensive over here, so some of that. Booze-wise, I brought back a bottle of Chartreuse (the green, not the yellow). I'm good for a bottle of Chartreuse a year.

Also: V-neck tee shirts. For some reason, Thailand is an anti-v-neck zone. Decent underwear and socks; I like Banana Republic.

I also brought back a small pile of the Laos antique tribal textiles that I've been collecting for 30 years. But now here, I like the minimalist look. So I rotate a few over the back of the couch.

I brought cheese only this time, and mackerel in tomato, as well a few soups and souces just to have when I feel the need for some Norwegian taste of something.

But, Im starting to get quite comfortable set up here with self produces vegetables, fruit, fish and meat. Tops and Mackro also feeds my needs well.
