Indian Tourists Amazes Me.

Hi there, As the title suggests Indians in Pattaya amaze me. Around 11.30 am I went to the Bodega Bar on the corner of Pattaya Klang and Soi Post Office. After a long walk and shopping at Villa Mart I decided to relax there. After about 30m minutes in walks these 3 big Indians. They studied the drink menu for at least 5 minutes. Then they bought one Heineken and shared it. Then one lit up a smoke and they shared that. They all wanted to know the Bodega Bars free WIFI. When that settled down they wanted to play pool. When they were told they needed to pay 20 baht per game, their very dark black complexion nearly turned green. What TAT sees in these types of tourists amazes me. I'm not a tourist I'm a condo owner and I've lived in Pattaya for the past 20 years.

Indian businesses aplenty in Sth Pattaya, they seem succesfull to me: maybe patronised by western resident expats who own condos.!

They have the biggest clothing industry but they all have the same style and color pants, jackets, skirts and ties. Why?

From a different perspective: you will find many Indian families and couples at all the top rated hotels. Money no object for them.

The ones the OP saw are here as part of the MICE programme, specifically the I = Incentive for successful sales teams. They also get a paid for soapy masssge as part of their reward.

Why are you trying to shame tourists who are traveling on a low budget. Shame on you! They pay their airfare and accommodation. Low budget tourists are all over the planet. Should Thailand kick them out as they aren't spending enough? There are plenty of rich Indians too, but they probably don't come to Pattaya. If you've been in Pattaya for 20 years you'd know that Pattaya is generally a low budget tourist location that offers very good value for money. Maybe you need to sell your condo and move to a more upscale location where low budget tourists won't trouble you.

As long as they finally start wearing deodorant and don't smell like a woodpile of anal glands I don't really care.  Hell, I totally approve of their cheapness. Anyone who minimizes the greedy bar owners' profits is ok in my book.

I don't see any bar in Pattaya letting 3 people share one Heineken. Story so stereotypical, sounds fake. And I say that not being a fan at all of the majority of Indian tourists I've ran into. The same with the majority of Russian and Chinese.

What amazes me is that you are still being amazed by such behavior in Pattaya of all places, you should be numb by now living in Pattaya as long as you have.

Fat ones need to cut down on the ghee and KFCs, I'd estimate 70% of Indians i see are overweight or obese

I must have played 1,000's of games of Pool in Pattaya bars over the years. I have never ever paid for the privelege. I would never return to a bar if they attempted to charge me for pool.

I did once see two Indians try to share a can of coke in a bar off Sukhumvit Road. They were turfed out after a few minutes.

5 star hotel in Chiang Mai ceters to 4 / 5 day Indian weddings, lots of wealth indian guests/families stay same hotel.

 

Hotel staff treated like shxx, many instances of no manners / baic politeness from rich Indian women dripping in expensive jewelry, several cases of indian women slapping faces of Thai room maids.

Guess this is a real cultural issue. They still have this caste system, and a servant is a servant and of lower "value". You will even encounter this behaviour in Thailand where maids, servants etc. are at times treated inadequately. Have witnessed this many times.

This forum is full of  racists who saw their privileges dwindled as immigrants became doctors, lawyers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, authors, etc. in their own country and they had to flee to a foreign land and live on "wify visa".

In the guesthouse I have stayed in Pattaya for years when I go there had 6 Indians want to rent one room, the farang owner hunted them. I know the owner very well and he is not a liar.

You seem very certain - it must have been at least 10 years ago, in a bar on Sukhumvit Soi 7.

 

They came in, sat down, one ordered a coke. They started to take alternate sips. The boss woman came over and told them to leave.

Looks like an old stale trolling and bashing topic has again been dug out on the drink sharing !!

 

But let's not forget that at the end of the day for the Thai's  should it be a falang, a foreigner or whatever....most are plainly considered as non Thai and somewhat tolerated guests in the country.

 

Consequently it is always "interesting" to read some of us westeners...foreigners in Thailand,  considering themselves above the other visitors.
