Reality vs Youtube vs Mainstream media

I watched youtube videos on Phayao and Lampang. Wow amazing and cool they said. Went there and most streets are a rubbish tip. Next to nothing to do. Phayao lake is not romantic. Its a crappy lake. They had a boat ride to a "temple" that was barely anything. Went to the famous temple in Lampang. Saw 2 farangs, nobody using the horse carts. No grab nearby. Had to hire a 3 wheeler booked via a restaurant.

Mainstream media - currency plumments. Look it up 0.6%.

The real world is nothing like the media.

No media tells the truth, it's either entertainment, government propaganda or woke nonsense.

I should know I worked for MSM most of my working life.

Youtube has all sorts. Probably the pretty upbeat videos get the most views. I recall Paddy getting pretty cynical as he went through Issan feeling it was the same thing over and again. Make a video saying how much it sucks. See what happens.

  1. Reality:
    • Authenticity: Reality represents the actual events and experiences happening in the world without any filter or bias. It's the unedited, unscripted, and unfiltered version of events.
    • Diverse Perspectives: Reality encompasses a wide range of perspectives, opinions, and experiences, making it a rich source of information and insight.
    • Limitations: However, accessing reality directly can be challenging, as individuals can only experience a limited portion of the world. Moreover, personal biases and interpretations can influence one's perception of reality.
  2. YouTube:
    • User-Generated Content: YouTube is a platform where anyone can upload videos, which leads to a vast amount of user-generated content. This diversity can offer unique perspectives and niche interests.
    • Diverse Content: YouTube covers a wide range of topics and genres, from educational tutorials to entertainment and news commentary.
    • Quality Control: While YouTube has content guidelines and algorithms to filter out harmful or misleading content, there is still a significant amount of misinformation, bias, and low-quality content on the platform.
  3. Mainstream Media:
    • Professional Journalism: Mainstream media outlets usually employ trained journalists who follow ethical standards and fact-check their stories. This can contribute to more reliable and accurate reporting.
    • Editorial Oversight: These outlets have editorial processes to ensure accuracy and balance, although bias can still exist.
    • Commercial Interests: Mainstream media organizations are often driven by commercial interests and may prioritize certain stories or perspectives to attract viewership or advertisers. This can lead to biased coverage.

In summary, each source has its strengths and weaknesses:

  • Reality is the most authentic source but is limited by individual experiences and biases.
  • YouTube offers diverse perspectives and content but lacks quality control and can be susceptible to misinformation.
  • Mainstream Media provides professional journalism and editorial oversight but may have biases and commercial interests that affect their coverage.

That might have been a good day with a tour group while other days might be very slow but … the fact that they still operate says there is enough to sustain the business idea. In my home country, I would not be surprised if tourism authorities were not supplementing.

The National Enquirer doesn't count....  Nor does being a doorman at some newspaper office....

Very few people are ever really motivated the tell the truth. Every situation someone is selling and someone is buying.

Which means humans are the lowest form of life.

All animals do it. Many insects are poisonous for example. But many more copy the colours of poison (bright reds, yellows) but don't bother producing the costly posion. Lying works just as well.

Reality. Whatever that is.

Reality could easily be akin to the creation of Som Tum.

For everyone that makes a Som Tum, there's a different way of making it.

An infinite number of realities guarantees there's no singular standard for what passes as a reality.

No such entity as an absolute.

....with the exception if one is deeply conditioned and indoctrinated to reason that there is one defined reality - you've lost already and cannot recover. From simple observations, more commonplace than not [especially amongst this platform].

Persuasive dumbing down is a prime tenet.
