And if Chinese tourists are being put off in their thousands because of a film, then why not bring out a film denouncing the film as pure fiction, and replace it with one promoting "Even More Amazing Thailand"?

It's amazing how people will be so swayed by a movie! I remember the insane flood of Chinese tourists that came to Chiangmai after that movie around 10 years ago (something like "Lost in Thailand"? I forgot... never saw it). It was nuts!! During that time, one friend of mine who owns a tourist/motorcycle/car rental shop downtown told me that he'd rather lose all of that business if it could go back to how it was before, even though he was cashing in on the influx bigtime. It was a huge headache dealing with them, not only in his business, but for the city at large and to some degree, the rest of the country.
It would be so beautiful if this movie could do the same in reverse! They should make an entire series out of it!????
Then make it even better by getting the producers to visit Thailand and arrest them upon arrival at the airport for defamation!???? hmmm I guess they can't do that... the CCP wouldn't approve.????

Having lived in Thailand for a long time, I honestly don't think this movie is the cause for a huge drop in tourism. Maybe a small portion of it? There are many more logical reasons why numbers are low.

DOCUMENTED DEATHS 75-Year-Old Falun Gong Practitioner Dies in Custody at Heilongjiang Women’s Prison What's new? Ms. Mou Yongxia, a retired teacher from Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, died on July 13, 2023, in the hospital at Heilongjiang Women’s Prison. Ms. Mou died after guards and inmates beat and tormented the 75-year-old woman. She was arrested in September 2019, but the exact reason for her detention and subsequent sentencing remains unclear. Ms. Mou is survived by her three sons.   Why does it matter? For over two decades, Falun Gong practitioners have suffered large-scale imprisonment and abuse in custody for their faith or sharing information to combat the persecution of their spiritual practice. Over 5,000 deaths have been documented resulting from abuse in custody, health complications due to mistreatment, or denial of medical care.    Ms. Mou’s death adds to the ever-growing documentation of the CCP’s deadly crimes against Chinese citizens and the need for urgent international action to stop the persecution and save innocent lives.    What else do you need to know? Ms. Mou’s case is exemplary of two common practices that Chinese authorities use in their treatment of detained Falun Gong practitioners: denial of visitation rights and instigating prisoners to abuse practitioners.   Heilongjiang authorities refused to inform Ms. Mou’s family of the location of her detention from the time of her arrest in September 2019 until April 2023. Even after her family was informed of her detention at Heilongjiang Women’s Prison, prison authorities prevented the family from visiting her until she was in hospitalized in June.   In addition to the abuse inflicted on Ms. Mou by prison guards, correctional officers at Heilongjiang Women’s Prison regularly instigated inmates to participate in the torture and harassment of Ms. Mou and other Falun Gong detainees. According to a Minghui correspondent in Heilongjiang, “When it was about time for everyone to brush their teeth, guards would deny all inmates from doing so, with the excuse that the Falun Gong practitioner in the cell did not renounce her faith. FAMILY RESCUE California Congressman Requests State Department to Call for Release of Falun Gong Practitioner Chinese authorities arrested Ms. Meng Zhaohong, the mother of a California resident, on May 9, 2023, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong at a local fair in Hebei Province. California Congressman Kevin Kiley wrote to the Department of State on behalf of Meng’s daughter, Ms. Ding Yue. He urged the U.S. ambassador to China to raise Meng’s case with Chinese counterparts. How about doing something drastic like not making waves then you won't get arrested. Anybody living in China know that they are living in a dictatorship, an individual isn't going to change that so why stick your neck out? Even in a dictatorship like China there are hundreds of millions of people who live a good life without being harassed. In the past in Eastern Europe the communists repressed Christians who went to church, the alternative of course was to pray at home, read your bible with your family but some chose to undergo arrest and deprivation, that's also a choice. As a devout, peaceful coward I say knuckle under and grow in the shade, sunshine can burn.

I think its more trying to find an excuse on why the numbers are low and not returning to pre-covid levels as fast as the country would like. Interesting how all the issues that are claimed to be false actually happen, not only to the Chinese but by the chinese

Thanks God the East Europeans and Balts in 80-90's were not like you, they decided to "make waves" and got rid of Soviet shackles and bring down the USSR too, although it seemed mission impossible to many just a decade before that.

Why would the truth hurt?   They let all the triads here apply for unknown visas.  They set their network online gambling,  scams of all sorts on Thai and their own while visiting. Once the word got out you think the Chinese were going to just buy Real Estate. ????

Easy. First time visitors are exempt. You come for the first time, you realize what a huge clown show LOS is, and you are smart and don't want your brain to shrink, you never come back. 

Granted, maybe you are smart, but you are also an unattractive sex addict.
