  • Leave the guy (and Google) alone! There's a distinct difference between Rambutri Alley and Soi Rambutri, and anyone talking to tuk Tuk drivers is likely going to mispronounce everything anyway. P

I think that you are referring to the large and fine Used book store on Rambuttri Ally.  Just google Rambuttri Village Hotel for directions.    When you come from Khao San road and you head towar

Use a landmark given in Thai. Use a translation app or google maps. 7/11 is always good if nearby.

Are you thick? Google dumbs down the place names for a foreign audience. Soi becomes "aly" or "alley" which almost no Thai will understand.

In at least one case it calls a Thanon a Soi, that road being Th. Lamphu. You're only going to know this if you compare the English version of Maps with the Thai version and get a Thai speaker/reader to assist, which I did last night just to make sure I wasn't spouting BS like most of the AN crowd.

Then you have to take a screenshot, run it through Lens, copy the text then paste into Translate. What a carry on.

Even then you won't get the correct translation, Rama IV being a case in point.

Its pretty easy to just give directions using google maps yourself. I had to do that in Hat Yai as the idiot driver knew nothing. Gave him the hotel name, soi name still he had no idea. So I just directed him.

Bully for you but it's not all about you so enough already with your "I'm alright Jack" attitude.

Most tourists don't speak Thai and so have to rely on Google etc. It's good for them to know that it is not 100% reliable as I've clearly demonstrated already.

Nil Sai - turn left

Nil Kwa - turn right

Trong Bai - go straight
