What do I need to replace a damaged DL?

Featured Replies

I have a 5 year DL but one of the corners is damaged. I need to get a new one for ID verification. What documents would I need? Also can I change the address on it without having to get a residence certificate? Is tm30 enough?

That last question is the million dollar one.

Here on Samui, the TM 30 is accepted by most as proof of address - except the banks. Banks still demand the old form that the immigration office refuse to produce.

I had to have a replacement licence some years back when I lost my wallet. All I needed was copy of the licence and my passport. The passport number was different (new passport) and they just changed it. Simple.

As always in Thailand, different government offices might have different procedures.

That’s the same for me.. I left mine in my pants pocket and it got warped in the clothes dryer..

So long as nothing has changed, it’s a simple process — passport , the actual damages DL (that they keep) and the issuance fee (not the renewal fee- only the smaller issuance fee)
