This initiative not only enforces the law but also promotes tourist awareness, advising them to report unfair treatment by taxi services to the Tourist Police hotline at 1155, which operates 24/7.

The crackdown took place around the CentralWorld area, located on Ratchadamri Road, Pathumwan District, Bangkok.

In total, five taxi drivers were legally processed: four for refusing to carry passengers and one for other violations.

This enforcement underscores the commitment to ensuring fair and lawful transportation services for locals and tourists alike.

They do this about once a year at one location for a few hours, and then allow the taxi drivers operate as usual once the photo op is over.

If they were serious, which of course no-one is fooled into believing they are, they would pull a few dozen soldiers out of their barracks where they do who knows what all day, dress them in civvies and set them trying to get a taxi from anywhere, be it outside malls or hotels or simply in the street. And give them the power to immediately take a taxi off the road if they don't stick to the rules. The taxi complaint line is useless, as I know from trying to use it and being told to call the tourist police, who told me to call the taxi complaint number.

This reports that the Police are doing what they are paid to do,

To be fair how are the cops supposed to know when taxis refuse a fare or not use the meter? if not for people ringing 1155 what is amiss is there "Hotline" is always busy and needs more operators at peak times like on a Saturday night at 11pm.
