Popular Post Chris Daley Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 Apparently we don't have a cuisine or specific British food in England. So here is twenty minutes worth of it: 1 1 2
scubascuba3 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Fish & Chips, but I've given up in Thailand it just can't compare to back home, also usually dripping in oil and that earthy river fish 1 1

That's not British food. It's Indian. Just because it's now very popular in Britain doesn't mean it's now British. The popularity of Indian food there is due to the low quality local cuisine offered. I postulate that if the Thais had been in Britain before the Indians, Thai food would be the #1 food there. 1 1 3

A lot of us Brits think of British food as the food that's available in Britain i.e. Indian food is British food, as is Thai food, Chinese etc 1 1
KannikaP Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Hollands Steak & Kidney pudding, with mushy peas, real chips and Bisto gravy. With a pint of Old Speckled Hen ale. Mmmmm. 1 1
Popular Post rocketboy2 Posted November 11, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2023 Chip Butty. Real salted butter, real door step size bread, with Lorry driver size chips. Butter dripping out the sides with the heat of the chips all over the fingers. . 1 2 3
Stocky Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 I do like a bit of game, game pie or jugged hare.

LosLobo Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Britannica's definition of 'Cuisine' which is in the title of this topic is: 'Cuisine, the foods and methods of preparation traditional to a region or population'. I would suggest Indian food is not traditional to Britain. Cuisine | Definition, Types, & Facts | Britannica 1

You've opened up a huge can of worms now. Just wait for the usual suspects to come along. Apparently, there is no good British food. 555 1

I haven't found the food especially greasy. I order the child portion now because I cannot eat a full adult portion which is too generous for me. When they started serving a cuppa tea that was a big improvement for me.
