Those volunteers can do pretty much anything they want to. They all run with the Thai Police.. 

Up north the Swiss and Aussie's were in charge of the biggest narco ring in Thailand when I was there. Hired by the government and worked with the police.

Where is Thai pride? Is Thailand admitting that it's own police force is unable to maintain law and order? What power will the Chinese cops have? Well you're an Aussie. You should know that the AFP has had 'liaison officers' in Thailand (as in many other countries) for many years.

 

Basic job relates to drugs smuggling, but no doubt 'wanteds' hanging out are on the list also ...

We have not got any official ones, so how they will be allowed to operate in Thailand as yet to be defined. If at all. I doubt they will be given much powers above and beyond what the current volunteers have..

OMG..There are several "Chinese" police offices in Canada.Allegedly to assist chino tourists.In reality they're looking for targeted individuals/dissidents to shut them up.Once they have a foot in the door who knows what authority they will take.This whole idea stinks.

A big difference between AFP attached to the embassy assisting  both governments with liaison on matters of international crime than Chinese police roaming the streets as normal police officer involved in petty crime control, big difference.

The Farang police in Thailand are unpaid volunteer expats. It seems that we are talking about paid serving Chinese police officers who's primary loyalty is the Chinese state and enforcing Chinese law. I am also aware that police cooperate around the world in drug enforcement agencies you often find embassy advisors working with local police where the final destination for the drugs is their country

What happens if there is some kind of altercation between a rogue chinese policeman with a non chinese national, what will be the lawful outcome of that.

 

If I was Thai I would be not be welcoming about the visibility of a foreign policemen patrolling some areas on foreign soil.
