What "farang" police, or are you referring to the VOLUNTEER tourist police, who have vertually no legal position. 2 2
Popular Post neeray Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 Another foot in the door by Xi. Belt and Road wasn't enough, so install real warm bodies to advance the cause. 1 1 2
it is what it is Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 quite a lot of over reacting going on here. as other posters have said it's quite common for police forces to co-operate to varying degrees. also, if you read the article, despite the headline, nothing has been agreed yet. 1
rwill Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 now you will need 2 brown envelopes... Sawatdee nee hao 1 1

Those volunteers can do pretty much anything they want to. They all run with the Thai Police.. Up north the Swiss and Aussie's were in charge of the biggest narco ring in Thailand when I was there. Hired by the government and worked with the police. 2 2
BE88 Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Then our next immigration office will have Chinese colours. 1 2
DjSilver Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 This would hardly boost tourist confidence. I would say the complete opposite 🤣

Yes, it has long been an open secret that police "offices" have been part of the operations of many Chinese diplomatic and trade operations in other countries. They exist to monitor and control Chinese people, both citizens and émigrés in those countries. 49 minutes ago, jacko45k said: We have had Western police for many many years, as the Tourist Police Volunteers and the Foreign Police Assistants. They have pretty limited authority and have to have regular police with them and no power of arrest. Probably find them sitting around playing with their phones. Most of them have been harmless if sometimes irritating "Walts" (Walter Mittys) who like dressing up. The Chinese police operating extra territoriality are for real. 10 minutes ago, hotchilli said: CCP moving in... Thin end of a wedge... Popular Post Scouse123 Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 Absolute bull $hit. The Chinese are now going to be doing the same in Thailand as they are already doing in Cambodia. Takeover by stealth and some in Thailand are too braindead to accept it, or they don't care. Next thing they'll be importing their version of law and order, Chinese style. It's not cooperation, it's a takeover. 3 4 3
PingRoundTheWorld Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 What the actual ****??? this does NOT make me feel safe. Doubt it'll make Chinese tourists feel safe either, probably on the contrary... 1 1

Will they be able to grab unruly Chinese citizens holidaying here who may have been critical of the Chinese govt. Can they grab citizens of other countries. eg USA/UK 2 1
Popular Post Gknrd Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 Thailand government is already run by Chinese supporters and backers. Nothing new here. the farang will be out before long in Pattaya, Puckett ect. 1 1 1

Well you're an Aussie. You should know that the AFP has had 'liaison officers' in Thailand (as in many other countries) for many years. Basic job relates to drugs smuggling, but no doubt 'wanteds' hanging out are on the list also ... 2 1

I doubt they will be given much powers above and beyond what the current volunteers have..

OMG..There are several "Chinese" police offices in Canada.Allegedly to assist chino tourists. In reality they're looking for targeted individuals/dissidents to shut them up.Once they have a foot in the door who knows what authority they will take. This whole idea stinks. A big difference between AFP attached to the embassy assisting both governments with liaison on matters of international crime than Chinese police roaming the streets as normal police officer involved in petty crime control, big difference. 5 1
thailand49 Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Why not should be no surprise the triads already taken over their government.
movsrus Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 The PLA will soon be infiltrating Thai military to "help". What could possibly go wrong with this plan? I wonder when Chinese "advisors" will be incorporated into Thai government. 1

The Farang police in Thailand are unpaid volunteer expats. It seems that we are talking about paid serving Chinese police officers who's primary loyalty is the Chinese state and enforcing Chinese law. I am also aware that police cooperate around the world in drug enforcement agencies you often find embassy advisors working with local police where the final destination for the drugs is their country 3 1

freeworld Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 There is something completely wrong about this foreign police would be visibly active on a foreign territory. What happens if there is some kind of altercation between a rogue chinese policeman with a non chinese national, what will be the lawful outcome of that. If I was Thai I would be not be welcoming about the visibility of a foreign policemen patrolling some areas on foreign soil. 1
koolkarl Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 What an insult to the Thai police. Thailand must be extremely desperate to allow giving up their sovereignty.
