I see Makro in Nakhon Sawan has increased the price of a tin of spam from around 220 Bt to 260 Bt How can the justify that? Oh I know the Russian/Ukraine war. Never mind, when the war is over I suppose the price will be back to normal.

I have found Makro prices fluctuating on a variety of products, they go up and they go down.

 

When they go up, if more than 10%, I say they can keep it, sure enough, next time I go, the price is back to normal or less.

 

Demand is key, if people let the product go, they will reduce the price, it's called people power.

Same prices same low quality sweet sandwiches, sweet cheese, sweet spreads, sweet meats.  Just more of and you can split the packed open because it's bulk.

If that what worries you then you have too much time on your hands, spam is not real food anyway.

The question should be, who would buy a tin of spam at that price ?
 

For 260bt you can make a fresh chicken curry that will easily cover 4 or 5 people or 4 or 5 meals if you freeze it in individual portions.

Makro prices have definitely gone up over the last year or so.  And given that the Govt reductions in diesel/petrol and electricity will not flow 'down the food chain' for a long time, if ever, prices are going to stay higher for a while - maybe forever. Funny how increased costs always quickly flow up the food chain and prices go up almost immediately, but it just not want to do the same the other way.  Not just in Thailand - Worldwide.

except for seasonal stuff like veg, fruit  the only thing that has reduced in price is

TV 's , I paid 12,000 B for a 21 " tv 35 years ago , for that price now you can buy a huge TV ,

I heard its because there was a large influx of Hawaiian resturants opening so supply is at an all time low

I was surprised today, to see a tray of eggs in Makro is now 174 bt ! Not so long ago they were 120 bt that's quite a jump.

Also dairy products like soft margarine spread are hit n miss is supply the last few months. 

Of course this may vary by region.
