Thanks for your response and I understand the time constraints etc!

The ignore function, as far as I know, only stops you seeing his actual posts but not the topics he has started and the replies to the topic/posts!

Ok but if you don't like the topic/thread, don't enter it, just go to another one.

How many people expect factual information on this site? Ok, in a few sub-forums like DIY or something there might be a useful answer. But mostly I have no high expectations from this forum.

But in the all activity function (expanded) all replies and requotes of the blocked unwanted poster still show. and when you get, as on on recent day an ignored poster making just under 40 posts plus all the replies and requotes in a single 11 hour period that is a lot of activity that has to be looked at even momentarily before scrolling on!

I agree it is not a major annoyance but an unnecessary annoyance still the same!

You do know how to scroll... right... what you find annoying may not be to others and visa versa.

It would appear to me that on certain topics control has been loss by the forum  and these topics are no longer a discussion topics more of just a springboard for an individual posters to use this forum for their own personal launchpad where they want to have total control over the topic, direction of the topic and who can and who can't post.

If the forum software has options I think there should be limit to the number of posts per day per topic by each  individual poster

40 posts plus all the replies and requotes in a single 11 hour period is that a discussion forum or someone that is using the forum as their own personal springboard to control the topic and direction of the topic

So you would rather be the one controlling everything and it irks you that others are doing it... 5555

I am not aware of ordinary members of having access to the forum software so your above post is incorrect

as i stated

If the forum software has options I think there should be limit to the number of posts per day per topic by each  individual poster

Clearly if such limit post numbers option exist they would be defined by the forum admin

So you do favor control... what happens if the person controlling it doesn't meet with your personal approval... what then?

I would prefer to see a forum being used as a forum

a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged

Not as a platform where someone  using the forum  as their own personal springboard to control the topic and direction of the topic

I do not believe we should limit the number of posts/replies an individual can make as obviously many people are interested in subjects/posters I do not like. And vice versa.

Also it may be a "hot topic" that should not have the number of any responses curtailed.

I would just love to see a method where you either do not see anything from threads started by certain posters or a certain site (e.g.; Lounge) or preferably both options.

Why are you concerned about other peoples posting behaviour, can you just not ignore such posters if you find them uninteresting or objectionable?

It is clear that he means a poster who had 3 usernames in as many months, and actually spams the forum with close to 100 posts a day.

Everyone on this forum will know who I have in mind, and if the admins don't know, then it is clear to me that they turn a blind eye to it, and prefer quantity to quality.

Then again, why the poster needed to switch usernames 3 times in as many months?

That problem is well in hand, trust me. We don't turn a blind eye to much, except perhaps the odd occasion when a trusted and much loved poster discusses moderation and admin!  :))

There's a lot to this picture that you don't see and I can't share with you. You'll have to just trust me that nobody is sitting back and ignoring the problems, we see them and are working within a series of constraints to resolve them as quickly as possible.

It is against the forum rules to have multiple usernames, if an "obvious" troll comes back it is as a new member.......😉

It has been my experience that these obvious trolls cannot change their ways and continue to get removed. Just point them out when they get stroppy..........

Whoosh went the point!

You see the two smilies at the end of that sentence? That means it's a joke and is a humorous play on words.

We know you don't............😂

The one thing I would say is to stop the racism. I mean really stop it. This isn't Little America. Free speech is one thing but hate speech is another. By hate speech I mean anything that vilifies a race. For clues, look at section 18(c) of the Australian racial vilification act. And anyone who advocates or excuses violence should be perma banned after 1 warning. Removal of posts doesn't cut the mustard.

Racism is a pet hate of mine and practically every post I make is founded in this credo.

Maybe I'm in Thailand for too long, but I know that the locals will plug a knife in your back with a smile🙂

Thankfully this is not Australia, it is a chat form that has moderation to report obvious out-of-order racism.

Don't take us down your fear of handcuffs route......🥴

You need to chill, big time! You're in the Lounge, the rules are relaxed, you've got an opportunity to speak your mind (to a reasonable degree) and to get answer to questions. Don't screw it up by going off into left field without cause!

Since we're playing the "I've been here a long time and so I know more than you" game. I've been back and forth to Thailand and the Philippines since I was 25 and that was 44 years ago. I have been married to 2 Thai women and 1 Filipina. My experience differs.

I wouldn't have expected different from you

That pleases me because it demonstrates that I am consistent and follow my values.

Let me just say this again, if you don't like a thread, why not ignore it? If you don't like a poster, why not put them on ignore? And why are you so concerned about the behaviour of one poster? Mountain and molehill spring to mind.

All I want to know is why are members with G...G.... in their names allowed to start so many weird threads that aren't hidden by the ignore function 🤔

Real question, we ignore these posters because we don't want to see them. Unfortunately it seems they start many more threads then anyone else and the ignore function doesn't block them just because they started the thread

I does annoy me that the ignore function does not prevent notifications and still shows hidden posts as an unread post which requires me to check if someone who is not on my ignore list posted something.

and I think the confused emoticon should go. It has no purpose other than trolling. If people are genuinely confused they should say so.

Another thing I'd like to see stop is the gratuitous Thai bashing that constantly goes on. It's essentially racist and perped mainly by people who no longer live here in my opinion. Criticism of the government and its policies is one thing but what we see goes well beyond that.
