How many people expect factual information on this site? Ok, in a few sub-forums like DIY or something there might be a useful answer. But mostly I have no high expectations from this forum.

For ethical or legal reasons or for commercial reasons?

Laughing with or laughing at? The latter is aggressive behaviour.

If you think the laugh emoji is the latter, you think too much.

More so when one has no bloody clue WHO is laughing (and long may it stay that way).

I think the laughing emoji and sad and confused emojis when used aggressively are pathetic and puerile. If someone has something to say they should man up and say it.

How can you tell if they're being used in an aggressive or trolling way?

It's an emoji and neither you nor any other member knows who posted it nor the sentiments behind it. Only the member posting the laughing emoji knows that he is either laughing with or at you. If posting the sad/confused emoji, he is the only one who knows that he is either personally sad/confused or thinks that you are sad/confused. Who gives a toss?

Either way, the member posting them remains completely anonymous. Is this more a case of you being annoyed at not being able to confirm who it is? Originally, after the big switch from TV to AN, they did have the member's ID show when you checked the emoji, but the Admin quickly nipped that fast-track to ad hominem attacks, going off-topic, stalking, trolling and general dickaboutery.

Another forum I frequent has an anonymous 'friend' or 'foe' feature for members to filter out their perceived enemies, adversaries, trolls, stalkers or whatever they want to label them. All pretty pathetic IMHO.

I've never used emojis or ignore lists and never will. If a member posts something I like or agree with, and I am sufficiently interested in the matter, I will post a comment as such. If I disagree or don't like what's being said, I tend to haud ma wheesht and click right on by.

How do you "man up" and say it, if the poster is a wuss and has a long ignore list (they can't see it) and or if they report everyone that hurts their delicate feelings. in which case the post gets deleted.

I like the laughing emoji, particularly for pathetic and puerile comments posted by spiteful, low information members.

I liked them better when they were not anonymous, which I think is better than semi-anonymous like we have now.

I moderate on another board and the emojis are not anonymous. I think people are a lot more careful when their name is on stuff.

What have you done lately to buck that trend?

I have, but no way I'm going to say what on a public forum.

So you're like 120 years old?

I hadn't heard the gay means jolly thing since the mid-70's.

Are you an ancient English drunk? If so, I love you. This is the kind of cheery dross I spent a many a lost afternoon in a timbered pub laughing directly at.

ThaiBeachLover wants to party like it's 1929.

Here's a forum rule you might want to take notice of. I only quoted the bit that's applicable to you, as it's quite a long rule and the rest isn't relevant.

31. You will not publicly discuss other members

So enlighten me as to which female on here I was discussing?

I run into farang occasionally, and I ask them "so who are you on ThaiVisa forum?", and they literally look at me with a totally confused look on their face and ask "what the hell are you on about?".

I'm guessing maybe 90% have never even heard of this forum. And the remaining 10% don't care.

Where are you meeting people that this comes up?

This new format really sucks. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be reassigned to toilet cleaner.

The new color does not bother me, and I love that the pop-up ads are gone and the moderators are much less one-sided and zealous than in years past.

Carry on...

Denial maybe the best policy, imagine if one day you were talking to some guy and it was gammagoblin or other
