Pattaya was the scene of a road accident involving a British man yesterday, December 1.

A pickup truck, driven by the British man, crashed on a road in Soi Mab Yai Lia 53, Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chon Buri province. The accident happened slightly past midnight, and the local rescue teams and police were quickly alerted by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation.

The team arrived at the site to find the wreckage of a bronze Toyota Revo four-door pickup truck with Chon Buri registration plates. The British man’s pickup truck had collided with a streetlight pole, causing it to bend, and had then turned over, lying on its side. The front section of the truck had been significantly damaged.

Inside the wrecked vehicle was the driver, a 60 year old British man who gave his name as Curie L., was trapped and injured. The rescue team used their equipment to force the door open and extract him. According to the Pattaya police, Curie was under the influence of alcohol and had suffered minor injuries, including a head wound and a split lip.

Despite the initial medical attention provided on the spot by the rescue team, Curie reportedly refused to be taken to the hospital. His reasons for this refusal remain unknown.

Curie’s wife, who was with him at the time but has not been identified, told the police that they were returning home after consuming alcohol

Inside the vehicle, rescue teams discovered Mr. Curie L., a 60-year-old British national, ........ who was old enough to know better than drink and drive and was lucky enough not to have to have killed an innocent bystander with his irresponsible and selfish behaviour.

Probably not the first he has done this ... but the first time he got caught.

Hope he bears the cost of the damage and the insurance company does not pay.

Those of us with driving skill, and a strong desire for not only survival, but the avoidance of terrible injury, are constantly scanning the road, in front of us, beside us, and behind us. There are an exceptionally high number of reckless fools, and drunk idiots on these roads, and it is the only way to preserve our lives, and those of our families, and friends, who may be driving with us, and depending on us.

That means avoiding electric poles and trees. They can be very unforgiving and intolerant of fools.

It pays to turn the headlights off and place your Singha T-shirt over the dashboard, thus eliminating interior reflective light and improving external vision through the tint. It also saves fuel and makes your battery last longer, so it's also good for the environment.

Additionally, hang your amulets on the rear view mirror?! Will make you much less likely to have an accident!

Yeah, just one of "our lads," no biggie. Yet we all know UK drivers all drive perfectly, being educated, highly trained, and sporting higher IQs and bigger penises than Thais. Hence all our Driving Instructors to comment when a Thai has an accident. WOT happened?

But drinking & driving impaired, as he obviously was, is more than just "naughty." "Evil foreigners" further attempt to diminish his personal fault by deflecting to Thais--as usual. Where's the Red Bull heir?

Actually there are statistics on Road traffic accident fatalities/injuries - PISA educational tables - and IQ by country.

They rather support those criticising, sad to say...

Straight road and plenty of lighting, but wifey says it was very dark.  That'll be the 90% tint on the windscreen. :coffee1:

Those tints are designed to allow the occupants to see out and, generally, completely prevent seeing inside the vehicle.  As the pictures show that the interior of the pickup can be seen from the outside through the windscreen at some distance, your 90% tint claim is highly dodgy.

Where was it stated that the windscreen had a 90% tint?   AN posters who weren't there, excluded, of course.

He didn't say he wasn't there but he did say it was 90% and I have no reason to disbelieve him.

You having a sense of humour lapse or are you always like this!.
