In a startling revelation, chaos erupted as a contracted party allegedly disrupted traffic lines in Udon Thani City, creating a stir with images of piled dirt and water pipes circulating on social media.

The incident, reported on December 5th, depicted a blatant disregard for road standards, causing uproar among netizens who criticized the lowest standards of traffic engineering in the municipality, reported Daily News.

The Facebook page "Onzon Udon" posted images with a caption stating, "Traffic standards in Udon Thani Municipality found incomplete.

Utterly speechless, the lowest traffic engineering standards - roads, manholes, traffic lines, streetlights, all throughout the city. Note: All images are unaltered and unedited." The posted images showed traffic lines winding through piles of dirt, prompting a flurry of comments and widespread sharing.

Upon investigation, news reporters discovered that the disruption occurred on the edges of Thammasat Dej Road and Prachasanti Road in Makkhaeng Subdistrict, Udon Thani Province.

The images accurately portrayed traffic lines disrupted alongside dirt mounds and water pipes. After significant online sharing, the contracted party took immediate corrective action in some areas, commencing repairs since the morning of December 5th.

News headline comparable to as if local Pattaya news would have headline 'Chaos erupted in Pattaya as some unevenness found in Pattaya sidewalk paving', or Isaan news would report 'Shock and awe in Kalasin as local somtam vendor sold  spicy somtam to an 37 year old local woman'

A simple case of "Not my job". Common in a lot of countries.

I have never been able to find out what the purpose of the white line about 1 foot from the curb is ?

What a misleading headline. I doubt there was any traffic chaos at all in Udon Thani as a result of a few white lines painted in a stupid way. White lines which are routinely ignored because they seem to serve no purpose.

Wouldn't say it's chaos.

Nobody follows the rules anyway.

Just a typical lazy job.

As usual...

Why are there any lines to begin with...Thai drivers have zero lane discipline.  Take up two lanes drifting with no clear signal of what their intentions are.  It's probably due to not being able to see where they are driving because of the black tint windows

Farang OCD like my wife?

If I park the car and the wheels aren't straight, she'll start it up again and straighten them.

C'mon .  Loosen up.

Easy! Dunno from where you come from but they are on most all roads in Australia and some contain ripple strips as well. Effin idiots (world wide) leaving their lights on High Beam!!! Gota have some sort of reference to follow.

Edit:- As for the line painted around the obstacle. Well the hazard was hilited wasn't it? 555

The cynic in me wanted to comment, but my sarcastic streak couldn't decide between "blatant disregard" and "road standards"...

So I gave up.

True... however they always have full view of the ornaments and general debris obscuring the windscreen.

Nonsense

Who are being paid to sweep the road? I guess not the painter!

I remember when I was involved with roadmarkings, me and my mate came across the same problem, dirt piled against the kerb, the council guy said you'll have to clear it up, my mate said 'we're roadmarkers not <deleted>in landscape gardeners', jumped in the truck and drove off.

Was the councils responsibility to make sure surface was clear of debris etc.
