Belgian Tourist Injured in Robbery Suspect Apprehended by Thai Police

In a recent incident, Thai police, led by Lieutenant Colonel Thananoth Athipansri, Deputy Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, successfully apprehended Mr. Nirand, a 51-year-old man, at his residence in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi.

 

The arrest followed a report on November 11, 2023, regarding the assault and robbery of Mrs. Christiane Renee M Duvivier, a Belgian tourist, reported Siam Rath.

The assailant used a red and black Honda Wave 110i motorcycle to snatch Mrs. Duvivier's bag, causing her injuries, including abrasions on her arm.

 

The incident occurred in front of a house in Moo 10, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. Mr. Nirand was identified as the suspect, leading to the collection of evidence and the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Pattaya Provincial Court (Case No. 459/2022) on November 29, 2023.

On December 12, 2023, investigative reporters revealed that the police had located and arrested Mr. Nirand at a rented room on Chaiyaphruevithee Road, Moo 11, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi.

 

The authorities seized the red and black Honda Wave 110i motorcycle, registered as Mitryon Pattaya, used in the crime as evidence. Mr. Nirand admitted to the crime, stating financial difficulties as the motive, with this being his first offense of such nature, as confirmed by the investigating officers.
