I made a fast trip down to Pattaya to see my Dermatologist. The Big C Extra on Central Pattaya Rd. needs to be gutted. As soon as you walk in , there is a very strong sewerage odor. Tukcom is a shell of itself from ten years ago. A lot of commercial space , almost empty now . 2 top floors closed . Soi 7 had the Pig and Whistle , my favorite spot for Sunday Roast. Gone now. Also gone on Soi 7 The Tequila Reef. Probably the best spot to enjoy Mexican cuisine while watching NFL Football. My last stop before heading back to the bus station was the Harbor Mall. Horrid. They close at 6PM. Maybe Anunkin can get them to stay open till 9.... Laaaaaalllll.

I actually live by the Harbor Mall and like it because it's almost always deserted, but still has a sundae shop and a coffee shop. It's great for relaxing or working. Also, comfy chairs and desk to work on a laptop that are always available. Upstairs has places that sell used computer parts. Low key, interesting with no hassle or hard sales pitches. Many people, Thai's especially, don't like places that are quiet and empty. They seem to draw energy from noise and having other people hustling around.

People like very different things. It's interesting that almost everybody avoids that place like the plague, but I find it an oasis. I think there's a lesson there for me somewhere about living in Pattaya around crowds and noise.

I agree. Maybe top 2 or 3?

Pattaya is like Sleezy Las Vegas but 70% cheaper and the weather's much better. Girls/women are 200% better too.

People in the States pay way too much for everything, and over-tip. Vegas typifies that!

Absolutely!

It's 24-26 C at night on Jomtien. I'm naked. My Thai gf from Lake Mabprachan joined me yesterday. She brought her blanket, wool socks and thick night gown....

Thanks for letting us know your naked.

Hardly surprising given your thread on wanting to find a “Gringo Ghetto” where you can live without having to interact with Thais…

Cleary your idea of what makes a place good  to live in wouldn’t be shared by the vast majority of people.

Thanks for confirming. If you want to add anything else please let us know 🤣.

I don't like to gamble, but I def enjoyed the Neon sizzle of downtown Vegas.

Me too! I stayed most at Sam Boyd's places, like California, Main Street Station and Fremond. No stupid "resort fees".

California had great Hawaiian food and my Hawaiian in-laws got me discount rates.

Now every casino hotel has $20-45 resort fee. Plain rip-off. When on area I go to Mesquite, at AZ border.

Your post reminds me of Hawaiian pizza

I love the pineapple and ham on it.

Do they have real Hawaiian pizza in las Vegas?

Don't know... but in the US they make anything! For $$.

I only eat real Italian pizza and they have very few ingredients;

"But we must always remember the origins; Italian pizza is a dish born from the union of 4 simple ingredients for the dough (flour, water, salt and yeast) and enriched with equally simple toppings."

I get so peeved off when I read posts that just knock Pattaya continually .

I was actually in tears last night reading posts on another forum where the writer was so negative Pattaya

Please let's be grateful

I love Pattaya and as soon as I can I'm going to retire there., but I'm planning in the next few years .

For those of you who haven't retired what's your dream about living in Pattaya ?

Mine is to live in the Arcadia resort in Soi 5 Jomtien and walk to the RAGE fight academy where they have muay  Thai boxing for seniors

Wake up every morning to the sunshine  with a coffee on the balcony , stroll thru my day with the gym and Canterbury Tales bookshop ,

What a life to enjoy in Pattaya

Relax at night in a bar ,enjoy our trip me left

If only I could retire ...we all love Pattaya !! 🤗

You sound like you are in a retirement age already haha

There can be no doubt that Pattaya is changing dramatically - this weekend's festival/concert proves that.  A "farang ghetto"?  I don't think so!

And what did it prove, what examples do you mean?

I know the crime wouldn't be as high as other cities I guess ,less drunken behaviour etc

The example I gave was this weekend's New Year concert/festival, although I would also use the recent Fireworks too.  Pattaya is very popular with rich hi-so Thais (or maybe their kids) and not just a sex town (although it is that too, if you only hang out around soi 6!).
