Please recommend an agency that will help me obtain a retirement visa in Thailand and won't take advantage of me. Thank you in advance.

Do you have a bank account with 800k? (400k married)

or do you need advice on circumventing that requirement?

I have a bank account but prefer not to put my 800 k into it. Will an agency help me with that?

What If I have a couple of months before I turn 50? Should I wait or something can already be done?

Wait until you’re 50yo to proceed. Until then you can stay up to four months on visa on arrival stamp from date of entry, via extensions and border crossings. At age 50 you can apply for a change of visa 90 days for reason of retirement

You already have the Thai bank account so that's very handy.

You cannot do anything in regards to obtaining the Non O retirement which is first step for the agent.

If you wish to come to Thailand prior to turning 50 you could obtain a SETV in own country.

That gives you 60 days and can be extended by 30.

By then you will be 50.

There is a current thread asking about agent.

Will attach the links.

My post in this thread has links to 2 threads.

Also one specific to Pattaya.

Maneerat is one often recommended.

There are others.

"I have a bank account but prefer not to put my 800 k into it. Will an agency help me with that?"

Answer: yes

I am already in Thailand on a tourist visa from the embassy in Laos. It will end (including 1 month extension) about 2 weeks before my 50 birth date. This is why I want to know if there is a way to somehow skip those 2 weeks to avoid another trip to Vientiane.
I think I will contact Maneerat quite soon.

Thank you

There is no way to obtain the couple of weeks.

You need to exit Thailand and do border bounce for 30 day visa exempt entry.

Even then you will need 30 day extension to the visa exempt entry.

Since you are in Pattaya you can use one of the many companies that do border bounce (same day)

This guy @Pattaya57 did one recently and gave positive review.

By all means chat with eg Maneerat for expert advice.

Seems NAN is the lady to talk to.

Well there are, but personally I don’t/wouldn't use that method. Being I’m 100% independent and self reliant.

Have you heard about those possible tax changes? The money I will bring to cover those 800.000 k requirements might theoretically be later taxed at around 20-30%. Nobody knows what exactly will happen but it is definitely a possibility.

Go see them in  Maneerat on Soi Post Office, Pattaya the best by far, take your passport, and they will tell you exactly, if they can make that 2 week happen they will do it if they can

They cannot do anything to extend his permission of stay apart from applying for extension and having it rejected be given 7> days.

He needs more than that.

Border run coming up.

This doesn’t apply to retirees unless they’re generating taxable income.

Not so much about him needing more than the 7 days, more about he would HAVE to leave the country after that time

Why leave out my last couple of words.

"He needs more than that.

Border run coming up."

You added nothing that my post didn't cover.....

Oh I did add something, the fact that the 7 days extension would halt any chance of getting a visa inside Thailand.

You need to learn that your posts are not the be all and end all!

Agents are in business to make money by helping illegals to circumvent the law. If you're sure that's the way you want to go you will have already seen a number agents recommended by people on here replying to your question. Personally, having first visited Thailand in 1961 and throughout the 1970s, having worked here in the 1980s, and retired here in 1993, I have never to date used an agent for any purpose.

A little off topic… Can I buy a car in Thailand on a tourist visa? I think I cannot, just asking. Same question about getting a driver license.

You will need a certificate of residence.

That won't be possible in Bangkok however might be possible in Pattaya.

Suggest obtain the non O and extension first.

What's the point of a phone number.

If you can recommend an agent for the OP needs then provide details

Yes via bribery and corruption!
