Mr Meeseeks
Seems like a steep fine, but it is a foreigner. As others have said, I very much doubt a Thai would be fined that much for similar behaviour.

shackleton
I think the Thai owner of the car bares some responsibility for his actions and should be fined as well 🤔 Don't let unlicensed people drive mind you if he was Thai lesser fine 🤑

spidermike007
There is not a single day that goes by in the nearly two decades that I've been in Thailand that have not seen locals engaging in very reckless driving Not a single day, yet none of them are ever pursued, the highway patrol is never on the highway, the police never pull anyone over. So why is this guy singled out?

There is no traffic police anywhere inside the town. Red-light jumping is fairly common by cars and MCs at the pedestrian crossing near Rompho Market, blocking corner turns by parked cars, etc. Of course, both foreigners and the locals are responsible. Which town has no traffic police ?... In all the towns I've been to its the Police who are controlling the very lights at the main junctions so many are jumping... if thats not 'in front' of them, I don't know what is. 1

Yes, there definitely have traffic police in Pattaya. They are playing personal bodyguards / escorts to rich folks. Saw a couple of them doing this to the owner of that Chinese restaurant right next to Royal Garden Plaza on 2nd Rd a few nights ago. The one with two expensive luxury cars parked in front of that restaurant. Wonder how much it costs for personal bodyguard protection by the cops. Anyone here knows the costs involved to hire their services? Edited January 29 by bbi1
