Was getting one today at Jomtien immigration.

Last year when I renewed my driving license they required a letter from my condo.

Buying a new motorbike so needed one more, didn't want my condo letter.

Copy of your TM30 is the thing now...

Tourists are asked for TM30 when renewing a 30 day arrival stamp.

Didn't ask for TM47 or TM6.

Wanted a copy of my original visa, luckily I had a recent one.

My former original visa was 18 years old in an expired passport from another nation. 😂

A TM-30 IS REQUIRED for a foreigner staying in Thailand.

Also reguired, a NEW TM-30 within 24 hours, when you MOVE residence / where you are staying, from point A to point B.

TM-30 and 90 day reports are a fact of life here.

Depending if you OWN or RENT the condo, you can get a "HOUSE BOOK" either Blue or Yellow which IS proof of residence - the LOCAL amphor can give you the information THEY require. A house book is proof of residence.

I am married now, and  had a Yellow house book ( she filed TM-30 ) over a year BEFORE we were married. We were living in her condo.

In Thailand, up to date paperwork is VERY important and opens many doors.

I will be renewing my Thai drivers license in the next few months. As my current address of which I paid for is in my wifes name do I still have to produce a residence certificate. I've lived at my current address for the past 22 years. It has always been used in Thai one year visa and drivers license renewals.

Maybe in a few overzealous IO's, but certainly not all.

You say you are on a tourist visa and require an extension need a TM30, fair enough. So why do you need a residence certificate if you don't live here? If you have an extension married or Retirement and returning to the same address and already have a TM30, then no need to do a new one. Yes at Jomtien.

A COR is always required, unless you have a pink card.

The TM30 requirements at jomtien change with the breeze. I think you will find currently (dec 2023) they want a new tm30 if returning from outside Thailand.

Yes, that is what I believe. But that has been the requirement for a little while now, so may be due a change.

Posting my trip report in case it's helpful to anyone.

Sometime last week:  Stopped by Jomtien Immigration to determine paperwork requirements to obtain Residence Certificate needed for Thai license.

1st stop:  Building on left as you come in from Soi 5.  Ignore IO at photocopy machine and get in queue for Information Desk.  Information IO looked at my passport (LTR-P) and gave a 1-page form "Application For A Letter of Residence Information in Thailand".

Attached was a small sheet of paper stating I would need:

Copy of Passport (Data Page, Entry Stamp, Categories of Visa and Visa)

Evidence of Address (House Book, Lease Agreement, or TM-30)

Photos (2)

Fast forward to today 8-21-24:  Stopped by Information Desk to reverify requirements.  IO examined passport and gave me a 2-page form "Notification Form for House Master, Owner, or the Possessor of the Residence Where Alien has stayed"  and the previously mentioned 1-page form.  The IO also stated I'd need 2 copies of pretty much everything.  My lease is 20+ pages.

Required paperwork for Reporting Address:

Passport (Data Page), Arrival Stamp Page, Visa Page

Rental Contract

House Registration (Blue Book)

ID Card of Owner

I went to the Yai Visa office next to immigration to print out my TM-30 and Passport pages which I had tried to consolidate.  Cost 20bt/pp black & white or 30bt/pp color.  Seemed expensive to me, but maybe it's the normal rate.  In any case, docs printed and back to the Information desk for review.

I decided to just go with just the 1-page application document, 1 copy of passport details and 1 copy of TM-30 and take my chances.  Luckily I didn't get the same IO and a different IO reviewed my paperwork and gave me a queue ticket for Desk 10.

Proceed to building on the Right as you enter Immigration.  Desk 10 is the Notification of Address Desk.  The IO compained that my TM-30 wasn't dated the same as my Entry Stamp.  I told  her I was in a Hotel before moving into my condo and that seemed to suffice.  She stapled the Receipt of Notification in my passport (technically not needed for 1 year since I'm on a LTR) and sent me back to the Information desk in the other building.

Information Desk said I needed a copy of the Receipt of Notification (3 baht from copier next to Information Desk) and once copied I was given a queue ticket for Desk 9.

Back to other building.  Desk 9 (Residence Certificate).  Reviewed packet and asked for 300 baht and 2 photos.  Was told to come back this afternoon so I asked if tomorrow was acceptable.  Was told it would be no problem.
