For someone who just joined this group 4 days ago. You seem very opinionated without using any facts. You seem to be the opinion holder that needs and wants to be dragged through the mud as you quoted and then used your chance to post something like this ridiculous article. Why is it you can not understand people or women or even love? Age is only a boundary in your mind. That does not mean it is in everyones. Why refute and comment so negatively. They may be the happiest couple when together. She may have married him for love and knowing her future is secure the same almost all women in the world do. Also, you seem not to like older men in your thinking. Wait until you get older to see if you fit the same decrepit description you used for another. With age comes experience, especially in sex. Perhaps you use your own inability to have sex for more than a few minutes and with bad breath. In my thinking the older man with more experience can sex for quite a long time. Perhaps this is also why the young girl wanted to marry him. He can give her the orgasms you would fail to give her.

Most of these posts seem to ignore the cultural (family relationship) differences between Thailand and the western world.  Thais have a very tight familial social life.  My Thai wife is 33 years younger than I (American) (she was 36, I was 69 y/o when we married 15 years ago).  I have outlived all my close family and so everything I own will happily go to her when I die.  We love each other without reservation.  To judge Thai relationships to western ones is selfish at best and stupid st worst!

I'm a woman but I don't see anything wrong with two consenting adults, they know what they are in for. I also don't see any objectification if you are a willing participant. I used to wonder as a young lady in my 20s why older men like younger women but never judged. Then it makes more sense now I'm 39 and hitting 40 soon, because I find myself getting attracted to younger men(at least 25+😂). Oth, if I meet a man way older than me but we are in the same wavelength and all, then why not! Also, it's not nice to always assume that women going with older men are just for financial purposes. Not sure why the age difference happens more with the man being the old one.

Maybe being lonely & divorced has something to do with it, and frequenting bars ...

But richer women seem to marry younger guys too.

 

It's part due to one side having money AND having time.

Another aspect is that it's more common in Asia than in Europe and not limited to expat / retirees as I see several women in the village have much younger boyfriends.

I understand your initial statement of dismay but must disagree with your final statement due to a personal memory. I divorced in 2007 basically as a result of growing apart after 27 years together. Part of the discussions at the time was her statement that she was a sex object. Hmm, I pointed out that her having an M.A. and teaching both Spanish and French languages that she was admired as much more than only a sex object, however .... Yes, certainly an important part of our relationship was the fact that she was indeed a sex object and that we would not have been together from the start without the sexual attraction. This post is getting long so I'll nor delve deeper into the feminist revolution experience of my Baby Boom generation. You can easily see the scattered wrecked relationships in the West. Now? Retired in Thailand where I have married a Thai girl 26 years my junior and certainly she is certainly, in part of our relationship ... a sex object. Don't get affronted, my being age 77 means her being that much younger is not robbing the cradle.
