John Drake Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Many reasons. Not least is the sameness of the product. Movies (and TV) look the same (washed out grayscaling the photography), by the numbers casting, juvenile storylines, and refusal to give the customer what they want. 2
Popular Post mikebike Posted March 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2024 Wow. I have so many shows and movies lined up, I know I won't be able to watch everything I've got. No issues in movie land for me 😎 1 3

Like anything else the primary concern of the producers is to make money , and out age group is not the Group that goes to the movies a lot. So they want to spend as little as possible, and make as much as possible. No different than if you were a movie producer, Finally , they seem to be running out of ideas. Pretty much everything has been made. I have not watched a movie since I don't remember when. 1 1

sidjameson Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Finite pool of money to invest in movies. Every investor wants a sure return. Investors choose what's made. Therefore Spiderman 24. On the upside indie film all over the world is thriving. Try Mubi...never ending supply of high quality films 1 1

I had Netflix (no vpn) for over a year and it was ok, but in the past few months got IPTV/Firestick and it blows the doors off of my Netflix, My IPTV has over 2000 movies/tv shows ready to watch at the press of a button.
Popular Post narkeddiver Posted March 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2024 Most of Hollywood output over the years has been for the mass market and are boring - if you look at any given decade the majority of films will be unappealing the interesting films have always been independent or foreign 3 1

Agree that was an awful film and Conor McGregor, this is what some reviews write "Jake Gyllenhaal almost makes a 'Road House' remake seem like a good idea -- and then Conor McGregor shows up." The version with Patrick Swayze was much much better. 1
Popular Post liddelljohn Posted March 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2024 The death of independent productions is the cause of boring films ,, The formulaic Big studios productions are all the same <deleted> 90% of the time no imagination zero creativity just chasing money 1 1 3
sirineou Posted March 26, 2024 Posted March 26, 2024 Not boring. Boring to you if you are a certain age. " This statistic is significant in understanding the movie-going habits of North American audiences. It highlights the fact that a large portion of moviegoers are from the 12-24 age group, indicating that this demographic is a key target for movie studios and distributors." https://gitnux.org/movie-audience-statistics/#:~:text=This statistic is significant in,for movie studios and distributors. 1
Popular Post malibukid Posted March 26, 2024 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2024 a few good smaller films manage to get made. The Holdovers is a good example. won an Oscar for best supporting actor. 1 2

They even took a childhood story I loved and ruined it ( Swallows and Amazons ) with nonsense about German spies and changed the characters into nasty kids. The 1974 version was way better. 2

No doubt, some good stuff on many other outlets also. The many different outlets are also a problem because it dilutes the client base and consequently the budgets involved.

I was watching a lot of great movies back then. Covid did ruin movies though. They are so bad now I haven't watched any in a cinema since Top Gun 2. The tickets are too expensive for what we get. I did watch Elvis on DVD though, and it was OK. 1

No, most of them are bad, actually bad. They just became too PC. These days I don't really watch Hollywood anymore. I watch Japanese and Korean movies and series. 1
