Knife-wielding Portuguese lady refuses to pay taxi in Phuket (video)

Taxi drivers attempting to rip of customers again....

... Foreigners getting the blame when they don't put up with it.

Just this week with Wife and Son, about 10 taxi's in a row wanted to charge is 1000 Baht to get home (after a concert - obviously a busy area near the stadium).

We went to a nearby restaurant and ate instead...   towards the end of the meal with had the Grab App, Bolt App and In-Drive App going with most drivers cancelling on us... eventually we got a ride for 145 baht.

When there was Uber generating competition taking a taxi in Bangkok used to be as easy as it is in any other city - Now Bangkok has become like Phuket with ayhole drivers never using the meter and Grab drivers accepting and cancelling.

I think I've only taken two taxi's so far this year that used the meter without issue.

about 75% of the time I try to order a Grab they cancel.

Smoking cannabis in the car, is this actually allowed and does it make people more aggressive?

No, it's not allowed, and Cannabis makes you less aggressive. Alcohol and speed ,on the other hand, can make you more aggressive.

The taxi driver asserted that this was not the initial instance of Varshawa evading payment for a taxi ride. He recounted how Varshawa frequently feigned anger or mental instability to avoid settling the fare.

Which taxi driver was this? The report started with a named female taxi driver.

Considering her name and her psychotic disposition, I'm willing to wager my left nut that she originates from a certain mammoth-sized slavic nation...

Knife-wielding Portuguese lady refuses to pay taxi

Don't call such a trashy thug LADY.

Deserves to be called Bitch instead.

Lady means a law-abiding decent polite female.

A lady would not dodge taxi fare at knife point.

No, it doesn't, "lady" means a woman; law-abiding, decent or polite doesn't change that.

Send her back to Mother Russia, she can help defend against Ukraine

I don't think that will happen...The correct spelling of this woman's name is Nadiya Serhiivna Varshava and she is an Ukrainian national with Portuguese citizenship.  Her LinkedIn profile states that she is a graduate from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.  Since 2018, she is been running a business in Switzerland in the banking and financial sector, providing investment analysis and financial accounting services to clients from Ukraine and Eastern Europe.  She also claims on her profile to be fluent in five languages, including English.

It is mind-boggling to see her skipping out on taxi fare in the equivalent of 40 Euros and then attacking the driver with a knife, recorded on a security camera video.  The taxi driver should pursue this case until a substantial monetary settlement is litigated by a competent lawyer.

From other news sources in Phuket.

"She has been named as 30 year old Nadiya Serhiivana Varshava, who was born in Ukraine and is travelling on a Portuguese passport"

"PHUKET: Police have yet to confirm charges against a Ukrainian woman traveling on a Portuguese passport for threatening a woman taxi driver with a knife amid a dispute over a taxi fare."

Sorry... you missed this one...
