Is Earth round or flat ?
Not correct... Key Principles of Refraction Over Water Light Bending Due to Temperature Gradients The atmosphere is not uniform; its density changes with altitude. Over water, air near the surface is often cooler than the air above (especially in warm conditions). This creates a temperature gradient. Light bends towards the denser (cooler) air, which means it curves downward, allowing us to see objects that would normally be below the geometric horizon. Superior Mirage Effect When the air near the surface is cooler than the air above, light rays bend downward, making distant objects appear higher than they actually are. This is called a superior mirage, and it can make ships, landmasses, or even celestial bodies (like the sun) visible when they should be geometrically below the horizon. Looming A specific type of refraction where objects below the horizon appear lifted up. This occurs when the temperature gradient is strong, and light follows a curved path, making the object visible despite being "hidden" by the Earth's curvature. Ducting & Fata Morgana In extreme cases, strong temperature inversions (where warm air sits above cool air) can trap light in a curved path, creating a "ducting" effect. This can make objects appear stretched, distorted, or even duplicated. Real-World Examples Ships appearing to "float" above the horizon. The sun setting later than expected. Distant islands becoming visible in conditions of strong refraction. This diagram below illustrates how refraction can make an object below the horizon visible. The curved light path (in orange) bends due to atmospheric refraction, allowing the observer to see the object that would normally be hidden. -

Do you consider yourself smarter than the average Thai?
Yep, smarter than the average Thai, American, and European. I have a master's degree in software engineering from Oxford University (Trinity). I won't list the other qualifications. I was a freelance software engineer for thirty years and worked for many large international companies in Germany, the USA, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and the UK. In addition, I had a large 200-seat Thai Restaurant near London for 27 years. I also had properties developed which was a good business. I did start a few years late after leaving school at fifteen years old, it is called the "university of life" by some, I realised how crap such a 'university' is so I went back to school, then to a real university and never looked back. I am not saying this to show off, but if I claim like many others that I consider myself more intelligent than the average Thai then I have to show why I think that. -

Trump's threat of a 200% tariff on European wine is the dumbest thing he's ever proposed.
he wouldn't get away with it if there weren't so many dumb people blindly supporting him -

The Lefts Response to America & Trump:Tesla Terrorism and ….
No it's a discussion area for critical thinkers. Welcome, do you think that the folks committing arsons at Tesla dealerships are terrorists? -

So the answer is no then. So do you believe that any organization that is contributing to such a is attacks is a terrorist organization?
