Surat Thani, Thailand – In a recent incident that has sparked widespread concern, a video surfaced online showing an SUV recklessly racing along Baan Kai Beach on Pha Ngan Island. The footage, posted to a local Facebook group on April 17th, depicts the vehicle performing dangerous drifts close to the shoreline, occasionally breaching into the sea water.

According to the post, the SUV is believed to be rented, with both the driver and passenger appearing to be foreigners. This reckless behavior has raised alarms among the community, particularly regarding the safety protocols and regulations enforced by car rental operators.

 

The individual who shared the video expressed frustration over the inability to reach local authorities, highlighting potential gaps in emergency response systems.

Another over-exaggerated post by a Thai by trying to claim dangers involved. The only danger would be the car getting stuck in the sand  yet they used that as their reason for making it seem worse than it was. Seems lately the Thai news and Thai people inflate anything into something severe if a foreigner does something not in the norm for a Thai person. The foreigner should have known better not to do this as driving is not permitted on the beaches unless unloading or loading your boat. But if the access to the beach did not post signs then perhaps the foreigners did not know. Still, they were having some fun and it was done when no-one was there. Only someone there far away filming it so they can send it to the police for actions against the driver.

'Foreigners behaving badly' should be outed and fined/deported whatever, depending on their wrongdoing.

As a side note - there is no evidence that it was a foreigner.

Remember that there was a case of a 'foreigner behaving badly' in Phuket last month. He was filmed driving on the beach and the lifeguards actually asked him to stop.

Turns out that he was a Thai tourist.

Because he was in a rental car, it was assumed that he was a foreigner.

To anyone not seeing the problem here. Imagine if somebody rented or borrowed your car, and they proceeded to do exactly this, getting salty sand mixed with seawater into every nook and cranny of your vehicle.. Also the legality of joyriding on a beach in Thailand is in question, with people getting fined for it in the past. Additionally, for anyone born with any compassion at all for animals, turtles lay their eggs on beaches, and it is the habitat of marine life and several types of birds. Finally, it just shows bad judgement, and a lack of consideration for other beachgoers...

Then fine them. What people are questioning in the current media outrage cycle of "look a foreigner is doing something wrong". When you get millions visiting, some are gonna be idiots, there are laws in place to deal with them.

How can you tell the status of the car , or the passengers in the car from that distance?

what a  crock...............Thais dump more crap on beaches ( just  look after any weekend or  holiday period)  causing  more damage than anyone and that without driving anything on it, public property ergo anyone can use it and do, if you cant hear a car approaching you must be DEAF unless its electric and if they get stuck thats their financial  loss.

pah and Thais driving on a straight road still drive into concrete poles, there  will always be the odd  moron in the world however 90% dont hit the poles or  fly out their car on a beach.
