Knowing the origin of Thaksin's return and the political stance of the Thai Pakdee party, it seems quite strange....

How about the rest of it like not spending one second in a cell and pretty much going straight to the police hospital where no contact to verify his condition was allowed. The release, pardon and parole are just other factors in this whole corrupt episode. Having said this not one person in Thailand would be suprised by the outcome. This was all part of the deal to bring him back, corrupt a democratic election by denying the rightful winners office by the use of the junta's non-elected senate and then make a coalition with the military elite.

This is Thailand... it works differently

The department insisted that all its actions were legal and justified.

Justice Department jousting justifications is an unjustifiable maladjustment of justice which needs to be adjusted by the Justice Department..., that's just it.

All these past governments both military and civilian keep spouting that the Thai justice system is fair and everyone receives equal treatment, ok let the people making the complaint have free access to the prison system and compare the treatment that Thaksin received against a poor incarcerated convict…… then tell us it was fair

Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong, you are guilty as the day is long, there is nothing you can say to us, there is nothing you can say to the Thai people that will convince more than a handful of people otherwise. We all realize this was a quid pro quo between the army and PT, to steal the election from Pita and the people, allow Thaksin to return, and provide him with guarantees that he would never serve time in prison.

This deal was filthy, you are a morally bankrupt and complicit man, and you are guilty as charged. You and your cronies have no honor, sir.

Why is this farce still in the news. No-one, no-one at all, believes that Thaksin was so sick that he had to spend months in hospital.

There were plenty on here arguing that he was ill. 🤷‍♂️

Maybe he was. For a short while. But not enough to justify months in hospital, only for him to walk out smiling smirking just as his 'term' was up. Very convenient for him, that.
