A 12-year-old Thai boy, Thirayu Chaichana, used social media to raise an alarm about a pedophile who had sexually assaulted him in a shopping mall bathroom. The incident happened in a men's restroom at the Central Khon Kaen shopping mall in Khon Kaen, a province in Isaan, Thailand on Tuesday, April 23.

Thirayu narrated that the man had begun staring at him once he went into the bathroom. Being alone, he was afraid and decided to secretly film the incident for his own safety. The man approached him, grabbed his privates, and kissed him. He attempted to forcefully take Thirayu into a toilet but Thirayu acted like he agreed and used the chance to escape.

Afterwards, he reported the incident to a security guard and waited for the police to show up. However, the perpetrator defended himself by claiming he only wanted to get Thirayu's contact information.

Thirayu was urged by the police to either accept compensation from the man or file a complaint at the police station. Since he was in a rush, he accepted 3,000 baht from the man as compensation.

Thirayu also shared a video of the ordeal, which showed that the man was carrying condoms, indicating his intent to rape him.

Thirayu then discovered that multiple other netizens online had also encountered the same man. Some also reported having had similar  experiences, yet the man had never faced any legal consequences and continued his predatory behavior.

Furthermore, there were additional reports of other nefarious activities occurring at the mall, such as a different man filming underneath women’s skirts. A security guard failed to take action when informed about the latter incident. Thirayu and his mother are currently contemplating filing legal charges against the perpetrator.

Never...never let kids go alone to the toilet, no matter how crowded is the mall. If it's the son, the dad needs to walk in and other way round for a girl. Also CCTV must be the norm in the public areas at the toilet entrance.

News that the Thai police force allows sexual predators loose after paying a small fine doesn't do well for tourism or expats living here , especially with children. Do they not understand the world sees what goes on here more and more?

Yep, it's a <deleted> hole.

How much for the cops.

I don't say the Police handled it correctly, they didn't.

Why take the 3000 baht and not report it at the police station, when they gave him the option??, he had enough wits about him to video the incident.

Why didn't he phone his parents?

I don't accept he took the 3000 baht because ' he was in a rush '

Security needs training on what to do in these type of incidents, that is what they are employed in shopping malls for, public safety and well-being.

Perhaps if he hadn't been in a rush he'd have held out for 10,000 Baht?

The police should never be allowed to give him the choice, or even offered it,  he is a minor.

What rush could a 12 yr old boy be in ?

So the perv is back out there, he should have been arrested and charged

The wonderful RTP strikes again.

This child got very lucky. The next one probably won’t be so lucky. He should have been immediately arrested and charged. The police officers should also be removed for not protecting defenseless children against sexual abuse.

Should not have been any option, should have been automatically taken to the local police station and charged and held.

Fucxing SOB.

Lowest of the Low-life.

Nothing justifies that sort of acts.

Hope that beast spends the  maximum term in the hellish prison and suffer.

Unlike in Norway, no comforts for convicts in Thailand.

I always take my son to the toilet at malls, festivals etc. Only once has there been an issue where a drunken local (of isaan) did the "doo doop" thing while my son was having a pee. Cost me 20K baht with Mr Plod but was happy to pay it as I believe his hospital bills were more. These maggots need extinguishing from the face of the human race.
