Well there is a difference: in the USA the crimes that Trump is arraigned for are real, with actual evidence of criminal activity...

Some live in an alternative reality

Unfortunately it is entirely possible that Trump can win through the Electoral College, without the popular vote, particularly given that institutions vulnerability to, umh, manipulation.

Like wise, gerrymandering of district boundaries and voter obstruction could result in a majority in Congress, again without a popular vote majority.

If that happens, and remember the Supreme Court is already bought and paid for, then democracy will end.

The Stakes are that high.

Politics are seriously broken in the US

One should remember that Sleepy Don was too thin skinned of a chicken to attend any Correspondence Diner during his presidency... :coffee1:

Maybe he thought it was actually the Correspdents Dinner, so showed up at the wrong venue? :cheesy:

Thank god every day for the foresight of the founding fathers to establish the electoral college... the mob was never intended to run or ruin this country.

Really, how can you respect anyone who whines like he does?  Complain. whine, and verbally attack those who disagree with you.  Like "mean girls."  He lawyers should recommend a mental incompetency plea, his intellectual age is 11 years old.  Maybe when the sentences are handed down they will send him back to reform school.

Is that why no one respects you... whine whine whine is all that you do.

Indeed, it was the task of the white, land owning, slave holding classes.

Changed now of course, land owning replaced by corporate interests and slave holding replaced by other means of exploiting poorer people.

The Electoral College still exists to further the interests of the white and the wealthy, and wherever possible stop "the mob", or the electorate as we call them these days having their say.

Do you have any idea how ironic your post is?  The founding Fathers established the EC to prevent people like DJT from ever being President .Political Parties have corrupted the original intention.

And you've never stumbled? Amazing the things the president gets attacked for. Including his speech impediment.

A 'speech impediment' doesn't make a person read the directions on a TelePrompter. Or lie about his family members' military service. Or lose the ability to walk normally. Just listen to Biden even 4 years ago and compare to today- the difference is stark and worrying.

Two people think the end of American Democracy is funny.      The R party is the party of a minority of Americans.
"Republican senators haven’t represented a majority of the U.S. population since 1996 and haven’t together won a majority of Senate votes since 1998. Yet the GOP controlled the Senate from 1995 through 2007 (with a brief interregnum in 2001–02 after a party switch by Jim Jeffords) and again from 2015 until 2021" Intelligencer

Yeah that's what Americans should worry about not a bumbling confused criminal wanna be dictator .Biden's son served in the military .DJt called  veterans suckers and losers.   "the ability to walk normally"   He can  -more lies .     Don't worry about an enemy of Democracy a person China and Russia is helping ,let's worry about a fit incumbent successful President.   Your worries are misplaced.

Biden is the greater enemy of democracy for a variety of reasons. Yes his son served, and honorably. But Biden can't even remember the circumstances of his tragic death. Nor can he remember the circumstances of his uncle's death while in service in WW2.  These are troubling to say the least.
