Reading some great books last month on psychology by Dr Wayne Dyer

I was sitting at a Thai food place today , a older gentleman sitting at the next table.

They bring him his food ,he takes a bite and says to the waitress this is not pork

She responded, No have ,mai mee

He looked at me " this is Thailand, they don't have it they bring something else ,I can't eat it

I looked at him "well ask for something else and stop becoming a victim !

Next story involved me

I ordered a BOLT car to my favourite bookshop

The fare was like 79b

A taxi pulls up ,he said I'm your bolt

I get in and he tries to make me his victim

I only get 47b from this ride ,I need to charge you more money

I said ,I'm not your victim , it's not my responsibility to pay you more it's Bolt's ,next time don't accept the job !

And many farangs are victims

"You tip me ok said the waitress to me at the now defunct Jomtien fish n chip shop

You tip me

Darling I said I'm not your victim !!

How fantast you are ! What a man! You really know how to put them in place, don´t you. After that, you wrestle with other men and share the sweat.

When did I call other people names?

So far, you have dishonestly attacked me and another poster called Katatonika. It's known as ad hominem argument.

Some supposed slight. Don't worry about it.

Consider adding the letters AR to your nom-de-plume.

What the OP says is typical. But considering all the foolish tourists who leave say 100 THB tips say to the taxi or for even getting served at a shop, mostly tourists, no wonder it turns local staff into a bunch of spoilt employées, with a sense of entitlement on dealing with foreigners. Sure 100 THB is nothing back home, but here leaving irresponsable amounts in tips just to feel good or look good, creates an unbalance in society and does not help anybody. Of course the 10% tip rule can or can not be applied in a restaurant but that is left to the discrection of the customer and only if the service is worth the trip. But now in places like Hua Hin even in a pharmacy one see's a big box written "Tips"....it is quite obvious that many are just taking foreigners for a bunch of suckers....

I put 3 baht into a tip box in a restaurant.

I bet, you just like to throw around fancy names. But you were looking for a thai guy to punch on just a while ago, right. Now it´s krav maga. You probably know 10 different martial arts and are lethal as hell. 😂😂😂

Don't make other people your victim by following them in the toilet and accost them by moaning about their wife.

Your own posts are the evidence, perhaps you are incapable of understanding that.

Ad Hominem argument:

This fallacy occurs when, instead of addressing someone's argument or position, you irrelevantly attack the person or some aspect of the person who is making the argument.

Do you really say that word all the time?

I just don't let other people scam me. I don't think about being a victim or mention that word.

I think that word is now severely overused.

If someone was kidnapped, that person was a victim. Someone who paid 100B too much is something different.

Yes. but you are forgetting the mental hurt that those believing to be victimised are enduring and how they feel so offended. You are so insensitive. In the old days a "f**k off" would have sufficed.😉

Ad Hom attack right there. So you played the victim first then insulted this other poster. You are walking on both sides of the fence. That must be painful.

Does anyone else see the similarities between this 'don't be a victim' and the Assertiveness Training Classes that women were taking in the 70's?

Those classes were very valuable for many women, and certainly needed for a societal change at the time, but the classes left out one very important factor... and that was 'when' to be assertive and when not to be!  It's not necessary to fight every battle.

If someone stops you on the street, we listen for a few seconds to be polite. That's all. It's not being a 'victim.' It's being a polite member of a community.

There is no need to drown ourselves in such negativity by labeling ourselves as VICTIMS (in Capital letters!) The rest of the world is working very hard to avoid labels that trap people into a false sense of identity.

Perhaps Kenny Rogers said it best; "You have to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em."  Choose your battles wisely.

Hmmm... so if reading the posts here makes one a submissive victim, and you read the posts here  (despite having read the book,) doesn't that still leave you a helpless victim?

Should you re-read the book and find out which chapter you missed?

Your examples are trivial so not of any consequence. However, serious victimhood is one of the curses of our time. Personally, for all of my life, I have tried not to allow myself to claim being a victim under any circumstances.
