Facts need to be backed up by evidence, otherwise it's just your opinion.

Unless you specify which "special rights" and "extra promotions" you're talking about it's hard to comment.

This is part of the code game.used by anti LGBT bigots for decades. They are really against equal rights. To them minorities having equal rights is a direct threat to their privilege. I suppose many of them are not even aware of that, their feeling of superiority the same as racists is so ingrained from birth.

Have a look at the picture (and the news): Samui PRIDE festival

I see people dressed up. Is that what bothers you? And Pride has been going for 50 years, it's not an extra promotion.

Yes, I've had this special rights discussion before and they consider equal rights for LGBT+ to be special privileges.

I realize I should not have started this thread.

But then, I see only 10% of it because I put most of the people here on ignore a long time ago.

Thanks for confirming that was a good idea.

ST PATRICK'S DAY, PARADES, GREEN BEER, GREEN BAGELS and all that

What do you think about ST PATRICK'S DAY and all that?

Personally, I have no problem with the Irish. They should be happy and be treated like anybody else.

What really gets on my nerve are all those extra promotions. ST PATRICK'S DAY, special rights for all those from green fraternity., Why are they not satisfied with just being people? Do they have to be so green?

What do you think about this? Do you think we should have more ST PATRICK'S DAY parades, green beer, green bagels, and whatever promotions?

Or do you think it would be just fine without any ST PATRICK'S DAY special promotions for those special green identifying so called people?

To be clear: This is not a hate thread against any of those green  "others". What I think is annoying is all this celebrating that they are different.

What extra privileges? Name them.

What noone on either side of the argument ever seems to understand is that there are 2 different sets of matters at issue:

(1) sexual preference - male/female, male/male, female/female and no doubt a few minor variants - with which (mostly) YOU ARE BORN and (mostly, but with possible experimentation) you stick with through your whole life. Call them heterosexual, homosexual, lesbian ...

(2) social identity, which you CHOOSE eg conservative, leftwing, rightwing, gay, loner, American, Australian ... and any of a thousand and one others. The point about BEING GAY is that it's a matter of choice. It's not for nothing that some 'Gays' (10%? 20%) are heterosexual or mainly heterosexual in their born-with preferences, but choose to demonstrate gayness for socio-political reasons.

I and my Thai Khmer b/f are homosexual. But neither of us considers himself 'gay' and I, at age 74, have almost never been even a little gay, even when I was young. I was always conservative and cautious. Didn't have much choice in those days, growing up in the NZ of the 1950s & 60s.

When the two different things are confused, endless further confusion results.

You're gay as F whether you admit it or not. Sounds like a sad case internalized homophobia.

You don't get to make up your own definitions. Gay and homosexual mean EXACTLY the same thing.

The topic was about PRIDE events which is not all year, so STOP LYING.

Irish people are Irish people all year too.

BTW -- as if it needs to be spelled out, people that say rammed down our threats may as well get a I HATE GAYS tattoo on their forehead. Never learned to live and let live, that think they need to feel superior to others just like white racists to puff up their pathetic hateful selves.

More lying.

The TOPIC here is about pride events which are seasonal, not all year.

LGBT people like every other group of people (even whatever you are) are whatever they are ALL YEAR.

The idiocy anti LGBT bigotry is the gift that keeps on giving.

Maybe you want to move to Russia.

Just seemed idiotic and totally off topic.

Like to topic about Hindus and posting being a Christian is fantastic!

People celebrating Pride doesn't mean anyone is saying that straight people can't be happy.

All people can be happy or miserable regardless.

There's zero point discussing this with you any further.

Enjoy your parade.

Why would you assume i'm going to a parade?
This is typical of prejudiced people in general.

They see the group(s) that they demonize in stereotypical ways and view them as MONOLITHS.

No group is a monolith.

Local tax payer funded parades inhibiting usual business on closed  streets with  Police security ?

Try getting a permit  for a Real Bloke Parade with same  conditions!

Try that and get back to us.

The truth is when there are Straight Parades in the world they are always about hating/cutting civil rights or even murdering (as in Uganda) LGBT people.

As far as decent events they are generally and correctly viewed as stimulating business activity and well worth any public costs.

Indeed. I only know about London Pride which received £625,000 in 2022 for five years. That's £125,000 a year for an event that attracts millions, all spending money on an easily policed and peaceful event. I imagine the net benefit to the U.K. taxpayer in extra tourism and commerce is considerable.

most of the hard jobs in society are done by men. police, firefighters, construction, etc ...

so when a man transitions, they no longer need to do the hard jobs and can take the easy way out.

I don't care who people have sex with.
