Violent Brawl Between Drunk Australian Tourists Shocks Pattaya
Considering the high levels oi alcohol and testosterone in low IQ individuals, I'm surprised we don't see many more fights in Pattaya. There are more fights in any U.S. city when the bars close on Friday and Saturday nights than you'll see in 10 years in Pattaya. The guys in the video were too drunk and too old to cause each other much damage, but the risk is one would fall and hit his head or break his neck. No one can accuse the Thai police of brutality; the officers were quite gentle with the idiots. It wouldn't have gone down that way in the U.S. -

Today I met the first farang returning home because of exchange rate
All true. Gawd forbid you arrived in that golden period after the Tom Yam Kung crisis and thought that 90 baht was going to last forever. I have a recollection that the official exchange rate was fixed until the early 90's, although you could get a better street rate? I did see a street rate of around 37 in approx 2019, a fair few expats exited around them but also from memory that was at the height of the TM30 debacle. Thailand seems to present the expatriate community with a new crisis every couple of years. -

Don’t kill the golden goose! Tax reforms may drive away expats
Oh, Thailand will be way worse than any country in the EU. At least for those of us financing our retirement with investments. Normal countries allow you to use capital losses to offset capital gains. This means that if you lose money on one investment, you can subtract that loss from your profits on other assets, lowering the amount of tax. For example, if you make 10,000 EUR in profit but lose 6,000 EUR on another investment, you would only pay taxes on the remaining 4,000 EUR, which is your net gain. In Thailand, if you lose money on one investment, you cannot use losses to reduce the taxes you owe on profits from other investments. If you make a profit of 1 million baht on one investment but lose 950,000 baht on another, you still pay tax on the entire 1 million, as if no loss occurred. Because of this, the effective tax rate in Thailand can easily be over 35%, 50%, or even over 100%. -

Revisiting History: The Unlikely Campaign to Vilify Winston Churchill
Which came first? The Luftwaffe bombing Britain or Britain bombing Germany? Have you heard of the Blitz? Before that there there was the bombing of Poland by the Germans. This is news to you? Strategic bombing during World War II in Europe began on 1 September 1939 when Germany invaded Poland and the Luftwaffe (German Air Force) began bombing Polish cities and the civilian population in an aerial bombardment campaign.[33 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_bombing_during_World_War_II#:~:text=Strategic bombing during World War II in Europe began on,in an aerial bombardment campaign. And also Rotterdam: "In 1940, Rotterdam was subjected to heavy aerial bombardment by the Luftwaffe during the German invasion of the Netherlands during the Second World War. The objective was to support the German troops fighting in the city, break Dutch resistance and force the Dutch army to surrender. Bombing began at the outset of hostilities on 10 May and culminated with the destruction of the entire historic city centre on 14 May,[2] an event sometimes referred to as the Rotterdam Blitz. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_bombing_of_Rotterdam -
