Yes, because I can always come back later and politely ask the Manager to review the CCTV to confirm the misunderstanding.  Yes, it sucks to pay extra, but know your area and practice situational awareness.  You will lose trying to get all "tough guy" here in this country.  Better yet, get a Thai person who can translate to help you mitigate the situation with security. From the CCTV, it appears the unfortunate guy who got his head kicked, was drunk and aggressive.  Not a smart move.

Bangkok Post now running the story claiming that the custmomer struck first and the 3 security guards were fighting back. I guess this is the story all Thai news will run despite cctv clearly showing it to be false and guard threw first punch. The article now also claiming guard has a broken nose and required 6 stiches so are they trying to provide justification?

 

Again no mention of health of the two beaten foreigners

when i had a go-go bar
we had security that was provided by the police we were paying
one of those security punched one of our own girls in the face when she declined to give him some money (she could not work for a week)
i fired all 3 of them that night (as the other 2 just stood there and watched and done nothing)
and then had 2 of them come next night threatening to cut my throat.

Security guards, bouncers and police should be held to a higher standard, and fines and jail times should be doubled. They have a responsibility to behave and not abuse their power. And some of them are very hungry for the power and using it makes them feel like big men.

Despite this alleged provocation, the guards’ actions have been widely criticised as excessive, particularly since one guard was seen kicking a tourist in the head as he lay on the ground after being beaten.

 

 

 

Pol. Col. Navin reprimanded the guards, stressing that their primary duty is to ensure the safety of tourists, not to engage in violence. He emphasised the need for restraint and the importance of involving law enforcement to de-escalate conflicts.

 

“Security personnel must act professionally and maintain composure. Their actions directly impact Pattaya’s reputation as a safe and welcoming tourist destination.”

The superintendent ordered a strict legal follow-up to ensure the guards face the consequences of their actions. The investigation is supported by CCTV footage, which documents the escalation of the confrontation and serves as crucial evidence.

 

The incident has sparked a broader conversation about the conduct of security personnel in Pattaya, highlighting the delicate balance between maintaining order and preserving the city’s welcoming atmosphere for tourists.

 

Details of the legal charges against the guards have not been immediately disclosed by Pattaya police. Despite various rumours circulating online, the condition of the tourist who appeared to be kicked in the head remains unclear.

 

His friends, who were also present, have reportedly declined to file police reports or press charges, seemingly wanting to move past the incident. However, given the viral nature of the video, avoiding legal repercussions may no longer be possible, reported Pattaya News.

Well I have seen this brawl from different angles now, and yes, that would be clear murder.  The 'guard' is standing there, looking, waiting, then takes a penalty kick to the guy's head when he's laying on the ground.  Despicable thughs.  Great advertising for foreigners and "security" personnel.

Two paid their bills, but the third changed seats multiple times and then left without paying. When asked for payment for the 3rd guy, the guy in the white shirt argued he had already paid. Eventually, the other guy in the group paid the 2,800 Baht bill for the 3rd guy, but the one in the white shirt pushed a guard, leading to chaos on the street.

 

So they squared all the bills. Even if the guy pushed the guard afterwards, no way the guards should have delivered a hard kick to the head when the guy is already on the ground and nearly unconscious. In fact, guards shouldn't have hit anyone. Just restrained them and called police to arrest them if necessary.

no mention of whether they knew the 3rd guy or not?
usually between friends, especially if on holiday or just out together
it would not be an issue paying a known friends bill and getting it back later

i seen the videos
the guards started the violence imo
once bill was paid, guards should have left as all resolved
iirc the first act was throwing some bystander out of the bar who was just trying to calm the situation

Whether they knew the 3rd guy or not doesn't seem material. Fact is they already paid all outstanding bills before any violence erupted. 
 

As you said, guards should have left and no violence should have occurred at all. But these guards are probably looking for any opportunity to smash up anyone who is a bit drunk and acting a bit aggressive.
 

They also probably want to prove their worth to the bar owners and as to why they should be paid to be there. All of it is all wrong on every level.

Was that those places on CM land /Chang Klan road?  Always had the pretty girls outside.  Kareoke joints. 

 

Shady as a 2 bob watch that outfit.  Many foreigners got beaten up in those places. I escaped from there once.... Long story but never went back.
