And it hasn't worked. Maybe the problem is that the Brit tabloids constantly play up the, ah, sexier side of Thailand to appeal to the prurience of average louts living in their council estates. Thailand should sue the tabloids and win the way the Royals do!

Nonetheless, the tourism numbers continue to increase. But I agree that support hasn't kept up with the numbers.

Indeed: And the following numbers support this drastic quantity over quality in Thai foreign tourism. Comparing 2019 and 2023. I double checked the math from the search numbers. On average each foreign visitor in 2019 spent 10 times more than the visitor in 2023:                       2019, 2 trillion baht/40 million tourists.  And in 2023, 140  billion baht/28 million tourists

Yes my problem is I don't like jerks. And I dont have anything to say to naive thai apologists who don't see a problem with "these" so called security jerks. Adios

They’re not a problem if you or anyone else isn’t a problem.  Pretty simple really.

It's pure racism.

No.

The staff called them over saying "these tourists aren't paying their bill" and the security guards were clearly driven to anger at the fact that these evil foreigners were doing something bad to Thai people.

Yup, they certainly were.

They weren't looking to maintain people's safety or find a peaceful solution. They decided that they wanted to violently attack the foreigners to vent their anger with them for being foreign.

No. The foreigners had instantly rejected a peaceful solution, most notably the obvious peaceful solution. Instead, led by white shirt, they chose loud aggressive confrontation, yelling vituperation, pointing, challenging, and finally hitting a security guard.

Thai customers wouldn't have acted in such a way, knowing the likely outcome, so, yes, you can say, if you wish, that the Brit louts did so because they're Brit louts unconcerned about their safety. They persisted despite warnings. So, game on; they got what they were asking for, 3 vs 3. Thais were kept safe, however, and, though you may not wish to believe it, Thais are people, too.

Sorry, but no. There's no way you can justify such extreme, unnecessary and disproportionate violence.

You're basically saying you're OK with it because you're as racist as the people perpetrating it. It's obvious.

I'm not justifying it, merely informing you as to the reasons it happened.

Nonsense, the usual attempt to deflect to the poster in absence of logical argument. Note that you didn't include Thais, overtly cursed and pointed at with implied threat of violence, in the "people" category, kept safe. Only the Brit louts are the people, LOL.

i missed such  a video of customer pushing and hitting goon in the nose......do you have link to this video.

the video clip i see from inside bar shows whiteshirt twice retreating from goons and also shows greyshirt trying to restrain goons.

whiteshirt then decides to stand up for himself and raises his elbow at goon who then pushes him under the armpit and then threatens with his fist - whiteshirt and goon then go on street for a punch up........2 other goons quickly follow making it 3 on 1.

greyshirt then follows to try and help whiteshirt but also gets dropped and set upon with punches and kicks to the head from several goons.

the rest is plain to see.

Brit black shirt charges and pushes himself against a bar patron. Brit white shirt grabs a phone from another bar patron and throws it on the table. Then Brit white shirt threatens the cashier. Later Brit black shirt shoves another bar patron right out of the bar. Brit grey shirt moves aggressively against 2 security guys. Brit white shirt threatens security guy with his elbow.

Then <deleted> kicks off. But before it did the Brit goons harassed 3 bar patrons, the cashier and the security guys.

so the lying cashier and the goon security guys getting "harassed" justifies attempted murder and "nothing to see here" attitude.

best we agree to disagree.

Watch the video of the interior carefully. The Brit goons harassed 3 farang bar patrons in addition to the Thais.

Best not to draw a conclusion until and unless you have seen all the videos showing the confrontation from start to finish.

Meanwhile, one of Mr. Mahoney’s friends chose not to report the crime or identify himself due to safety and privacy concerns and is reportedly no longer in  Pattaya. This is believed to be the man on video seen shoving another customer out of the bar before the confrontation with the guards.

Likely has a rap sheet the length of a 20,000B bin sheet. Age fits plus drug charges last year.    https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/thug-who-stabbed-his-friends-pet-1678702

Not sure where I saw it. There are reports of one Thai guy getting hit on the nose and that was the first punch. All seems to have gone quiet now....

the smiles on the faces of policemen interviewing whiteshirt maybe suggests otherwise - in sharp contrast to police chief condemnations of 3 barbaric "security guard" goons.

Stick and stones will break my bones, but names will never hurt me.

Most 5 year olds understand this. Apparently, the goons (and you) don't.

Even if they were having a disagreement over the bill,  there's no justification for the assault.

This must be satire; nobody that has ever been to Pattaya could be so naive.

Naive??? On the original thread that was closed you were claiming the guy was killed and posting links verifying he was killed.

Most people that are not naive read what their sources before posting links.   You even called me disgusting for stating what actually ended up being true.  You will get a lot of support here bashing Thais but that doesn't alter the reality of you being a fool.  You just have a lot of company.  I would rather have a few cool friends and leave the hating to your crowd.
