and meantime lots of 70/80 y,o farangs have spent years in thailand and never so much as a helmet ticket and yet have to jump throough hoop after hoop to get a visa to stay for six months a year...and this bozo somehow stays 22 years from age 22 claims to be mercenary and punchs someone out and gets off with an apology and a fine...

 

how about if you come year after year and zero overstays zero problems etc that we be given a visa without the third degree every year?

Agree it seems he was "helping immigration" on Samui before, so one of the boys, hence no deportation IMO. Non the Less by stating he was and immigration officer at the time of the Assault, he should also be charged with impersonating an officer. No mention on how much his fine was. They should also search his house for weapons IMO. But as I said he is in their circle.

What is so strange by that? In Netherlands you can start with basic training and function trainings from 17, you could be in afghanistan by 18-18.5 in those days, to then stop after 2 tours at 20, it is not strange to be a mercenary by 22.

Why serious doubts? Sign up at 16 do 6 years. Find work outside the military. It states he is an ex-mercenary, he might only have done it for a few years? If you read the full article it would appear he is well integrated in to the local community and possibly has a farm.

Thailand makes no sense. They want to ban kids from vaping but they'll let 12 years speed around on motorbikes with no helmet and every other kind of stupid driving behavior. That British guy in Pai may get deported but he made rude comments on social media but this guy can stay after a full assault on a Thai.

Maybe he is just using the ubiquitous Thai excuse’ I drank too much’ for his action. Moreover it is water under the bridge as he had time enough to lower the alcohol content in his body so no testing.

Cops need to keep an eye on this guy. Hard to believe someone who assaults a gas-station attendant and drove intoxicated is the model citizen he purports himself to be. Wife had to be under a lot of pressure to portray him as a saint out of fear of him being deported and loss of support, but wonder what neighbors have to say about this guy. Hope the investigation included a check of this guy's reputation in the neighborhood. Little bit worried about what's going on in the home and potential for domestic violence.
