I hate to admit it but you have a valid point. Hillary SHOULD have been nailed for that email server thingy, but she is deeply embedded in the system. That system protected her.

The twice impeached and now convicted felon behaved like a bull in a China (CHInah!) shop and the real powers that be have had it with him. He'll find how quickly his support in D.C dissipates and he'll be nothing but a husk of bad makeup and a man with no family.

Yea ... I think he's done as a political opponent.   Which in itself is scary for the USA.   If biden gets the nod from Dems, it's even scarier thinking harris will finish out his term.

No. If ANY individual had perpetrated these crimes in order to rig an election, this same verdict would be handed down. It won't be reversed, the evidence was obviously too overwhelming.

rig an election?..... i think your excitement on this result has got the better of you

People totally overlooking the fact that this clown influenced the American public to vote for him in 2016 without remotely knowing what he was covering up

12 Jurors voted lock stock and barrel to convict. No dissent.

Seriously lock him up for 1 year which is just one quarter of the maximum sentence he can be served with

The convicted felon has never yet won.

He was SE-lected in 2016 by the screwed up 'electoral college' rubbish, not E-lected.

He won't win this time either - decent people are generally in the majority. But the actually rigged part of the system may yet again see the loser of the vote installed in the WH.

Interesting days.

I shouldn't do it, but here's my prediction for the November elections.

74 million American adults voted for Trump in 2020. Not many will have changed their minds.

Voter turnout was 66% in 2020, but will be much lower this year. And that will hurt Biden more, especially because of his abhorrent Israel Palestine policies, and voters staying home or voting blank in battleground states. The archaic electoral college, that Biden has never even attempted to change of course, will do the rest.

Predictions are difficult, especially with regard to the future.

Really? There was no evidence presented that these acts were committed to rig an election. The prosecution was very careful to NOT say what the underlying offence was that elevated 34 minor misdemeanours to the level of felonies. The judge in his instructions said the same.

If you think that the 'revelation' that Trump slept with a porn star would have scuppered his election chances, you don't know the American people very well. It may well have had the opposite effect...

Nice try! Most of those so-called Dem talking points have been made up by you. 😀

All what I lusted can be found in MAGA posts in this thread.

The Dem/Liberal talking point is simply: Trump has been convicted. Just as three years ago it was: Biden won the election! 😀

Predictions are especially difficult when you don't understand the US Constitution Biden can't change the Electoral College.

Strange comment. Perhaps you should research what is involved in changing the constitution.

There is as much chance of the electoral college being abolished as a snowfall in central Australia.

I have no idea why you even think Biden can change it.

Awww your hero is a fing criminal

Obviously never read any of my posts. I've never said that Trump is my hero.

Pretty typical post of yours attacking other posters instead of discussing the topic.

Next.

Trump wasn’t convicted in less than twelve hours, the trial went on for weeks.

The jury deliberated for less than 12 hours. Almost like they had already made their minds up.

I do accept that you might not be used to the rich and powerful being held accountable to the law, but holding a rich and powerful criminal accountable to the law in open court of law and judged by a jury is the polar opposite of ‘Banana Republic’ behavior.

Of course the rich and powerful can be convicted. It depends if they are on the wrong side of the political divide.

Look at Thailand for example, Thaksin (like Trump) was removed. In fact Thailand now has many similarities to the USA in terms of removing popular politicians via kangaroo courts.

The appeal won't be settled before the November election.  But their real intent isn't to put Trump in prison.  It's to keep him off the ballot.

A criminal conviction doesn't keep him off the ballot.

Even being jailed doesn't keep him off the ballot.

I tend to agree that thjis was the plan. But I think Trump will pursue speedy resolution because of the elections. If that is rejected and Trump fails to get a stay of proceedings, and is then blokced from being a candidtate,

Why would he be "blokced from being a candidtate" <sic> ?

No I don't agree that the laws should be changed to exclude people with a criminal conviction a day after Trump is convicted of all 34 out of 34 charges in less than 12 hours.

That's the type of thing that happens in banana republics. Despite recent events, I'd like to think America is still above that type of thing.

Would that not require a constutional amendment?
