Affordable place with Belgian beer on draft

Featured Replies

I used to go to a restaurant called A La Mér. They had Belgian beer on draft and a great happy hour but sadly both are gone. Does anyone know if it is under new management?

Does anyone know of a place with Belgian beer on draft at reasonable prices, hopefully with some nice Belgian food as well?

You probably need to go to Belgium for that. Affordable is relative to how much money you have and how much you're willing to spend. Any imported Belgian beer here would be priced at Belgium prices, same as any European beers. Got to protect the billionaire-owned monopolies.

EDIT: the OP is not based in Bangkok or Chiang Mai so his choices will be limited anyway. Just so that people don't start recommending places there or Pattaya....

I miss the Leffe Blonde on tap at O'Malley's in Silom. Absolutely delicious!

Still open

Last time I was there (end of April), Father Ted's had Leffe Brune on tap.

The reason they did happy hour is likely because it was draft beer in the first place, these kegs need to be used within time, it's not like a bottle that can sit in the fridge for months or years, basically needs to empty within 1-2 weeks.

Often there is not enough people who buy the beer resulting them in having to throw a lot away, this is likely the only reason. Same they have to flush the system with the beer each day they open, while sometimes they then only sell 1-2 beers of it.

I would ask the business directly. Big chance they even tell you it is only stopped for low season but coming back at high season.

When selling draft, you need to basically stop selling other beers, to get enough volume, as a SME business, to make it worth while (unless you already have plenty of volume). Most places likely lose on it or make break-even, but perhaps still make profit on the food, or just want to offer it regardless.

they physically removed the taps and replaced it with Chang. it’s not a high season low season thing. also i was there for low season last year and they had it.

i know it’s hard keeping that on draft. i just want to know if another place has it.
