Use QR codes anywhere and kiss your privacy good bye forever.  It is the ultimate government control over you.

Cue all the paranoids that think anyone cares about their lives enough to spy on them.

Please explain

Hope payment by QR codes will always remain optional, because I’ve never scanned a QR code and would have no idea how to. It’s just plastic or cash for me.

No I'm clearly very stupid.

So please, being the technical expert that you are, could you explain using a QR code for payments using your banking app is a privicy risk.

Using QR codes as a shortcut to access some website should never be done. Using QR codes for financial transactions by your banking app is totally safe as the app ensures the integrity of the code and you're informed who the recipient is before you ok it.

When u use your phone to pay anything, what you buy, where and how much you pay, is stored in a gov. computer forever.  They can even use this info to get an idea of your annual income, etc. Your privacy is gone forever.

True, if you don't trust the source.

Of course, the same thing applies when clicking a link in an email. It's not the technology that's the issue...

Please explain further how a QR code details what you buy?

Where you buy.... Well the bank knows know who's account you sent money to and when, but the same is true of debit and credit card transactions.

QR Code is just text displayed as an image which can easily be read by computers.

It can be used like any other text.

Just try it. It's no link, it's no payment, it's harmless text.

Nice. I was going to go more meta with my QR code, but I like Thailand too!
