I need a replacement for my NOTE4. Anyone willing to tell me where to go?

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

I need a replacement for my NOTE4, after over 10-years of use.

I want something AS GOOD AS the Note4 I purchased MANY years ago (and by that I mean....as good as the Note4 was ten years ago).

I need a LOT of RAM (12 GB).

I need only about half a TByte of storage.

I MUST have a Samsung phone.

So, then, where in Thailand can I get the BEST DEAL?

I am a Dtac customer.

I love Dtac service.

I will NEVER change from Dtac service.

I don't want to pay out the cost of the phone, all in one lump sum.

I want to pay for the phone, by the month, as I pay my Dtac bill.

But, also, I am not one to make many calls.

I rarely even use the internet on my phone.

Therefore.....

Any good suggestions?

Best regards,

Gamma

Note:

a.  I make very few phone calls per month.

b. I almost NEVER use the internet on my phone.

Tks, again!

Any good thoughts would be much appreciated.

==========

I have been thinking of buying from AMAZON USA, for example.

But, not sure if this might be the right decision.

aa.  First.... I hope you're feeling better....

bb.  Any reasonable and helpful suggestions, please post them.

I do not  have a lot of money to waste on paying to Samsung.

I like Samsung phones and Samsung memory.

But, I am not a billionaire, either.

I need to buy at the absolute minimum cost, and still get what I need to survive in this techno world.

So.

Thank you.

OK.

This is not a JOKE post.

I really need a new phone, after over ten years of using my Note4.

I want something like this.....

But, Amazon will not ship to my location here in Thailand.....

No idea why!

image.png.b31ea01989b85ed6d0650594b8c19084.png

I will ONLY buy NEW, and no used or refurbished phones.

This will be the LAST phone I will ever buy in my life, for sure.

Any thoughts?

How to buy one here for the lowest price?

Tks!

Or.....

I would rather buy this one:

But....

WHY Can't Amazon ship to me in Thailand????

Such a crazy state of affairs, I think!

You know.....

The more that I look at the Samsung ads for new phones.....

The more DISGUSTED I become.

I think I will not buy a new phone, this year.

F Them!

I will repair my Note4.

OK.

Since first beginning this TOPIC just a few hours ago, I have come to the conclusion that I should never give in, and I should never give in and buy a new OVERPRICED smartphone.

Instead, I will consider replacing my smartphone with a cheaper and more powerful tablet.

I will buy a tablet that is able to use more RAM, and which has a larger screen.

I have no need to carry something in my pocket, and so I do not need something super-small.

IF you also have the same idea, then this video might be of interest to you:

aa.  This guy is a TRUE GEEK

bb.  Also, this guy has the same idea as I.

(No worries.  He is using Android Marshmallow 6.0.  But, he still has the correct concept of getting rid of smartphones, and using tablets, instead.)

cc.  I love this guy!

Great video.

IF I can finally free myself of the SMARTPHONE ADDICTION, and use small tablet computers, instead, then this will solve two issues.

1.  I hate to overpay for anything.  So, I think that tablet computers must have lower profit margin for lousy companies such as Samsung and Apple.

2.  I think I might be able to get far more  power, in terms of RAM and Storage and CPU, compared to the smartphone,.....IF....I am willing to settle for a LARGER package.

ALSO......

I almost never need to have my mobile device in my Brooks Brothers shirt pocket, these days......!

image.png.331a5d76151eb128efb5492d267afa29.png

image.png.9d4bcc5d52c987174af7e40fcf0d784b.png

I do NOT care that much about....

SMALL and

THIN

I only care about POWER, and....

Screen Size.

So, I am thinking about replacing my phone with a TABLET computer that I can easily carry in a shoulder bag.  And, in fact, I use a German shoulder bag to carry my Note4, anyway!

image.png.720162d274aea3e2ddcb3d99b89c7bfe.png

I really like the VAUDE quality of bags.

Especially, I like the Vaude courier bags.....

image.png.e0a26c6e492530191f717dddf2e41ced.png

========

So, anyway, in case you might want to know:

I am thinking about getting rid of my tiny smartphones....FOR GOOD.

Instead, I will buy a powerful small tablet computer.

And, when I need to be very mobile, then I will just carry it in my Vaude Messenger bag.

I know that this will probably work great for me.

Just my suggestion to you, too.

What do you think?

Can we finally get this SMARTPHONE Monkey-addiction off our backs....IF....

Everyone will do as I intend to do?

And, what might be the best tablet replacement for the S23 Ultra?

(In terms of CPU power and RAM and Storage)

Let me know, please.

This just might get interesting, both for me, and for many others, I think....

Regards,

Gamma

GG, for that price you are in laptop territory. Think of it as a tablet with a free keyboard attached.
Have a look at the M1 or M2 macbooks or airs. If you can’t consort with Apple, then look at the Lenovo Yoga or similar from last years models.
Then get a cheap samsung phone for the occasional call.

The lenovo Yoga is a laptop, basically, and too big.

I need something that is bigger than the Samsung 23 ultra, and smaller than a small laptop, and which also has 5G, and which runs on Android OS, and cheaper than the Samsung S23.

Huawei or one of the other chinese phones. Build quality may be medium.

The Samsung S series tablets are their best build quality approaching the iPad.  The A series may do what you want though.  Seriously, a 9th or 10th generation ipad is the sweet spot for price/performance now. My old SS S7 is holding up without issues, but i only use wifi.

Qualcom radio chips are usually more robust than anyone else’s. I would definitely not chase wifi 7 or 6e. Wifi 6 is plenty and well established hardware and drivers. Wifi 7 just got formalized, so hardware and drivers will be chaotic for about another year. It will take many more years before you see access points widely available in commercial locations with wifi 7.

The interesting thing which I have noted is that:

I never phone anyone.

Therefore, why would I need a phone?

Sometimes, people call me, and mostly these are just spam calls.

Therefore: Why buy a phone?

Possible Solution:  Just buy a tablet which can sometimes make a call, or receive a call.....maybe 10 times per year.

Phablets are now outdated, in my opinion, for people like me.

When I want to go mobile, then I do not want a tiny S23 Ultra.

Instead, I want something with a screen twice as large, and internet connectivity, and access to 5G.

I have no use for a traditional smartphone.

Thank you.

But, I will never buy any phone/computer from China.

Never.

Also, the phones we are getting must be overpriced by about 200 percent.

Anytime there are 7 billion of anything, then the cost should go way down, and not up.

This is why I will not buy a new phone.

image.png.b165d9f72f875e6e442973d45451de4a.png

The S23 Ultra should cost about USD350.

But, why doesn't it?

THIS is the reason I am still using my Note4.

Well, you've closed the loop now. So the cognitive dissonance should be peaking. Only flipping a coin and seizing the day will resolve.

There must be a better alternative for those who do not need something so small and powerful.

I would rather have something a bit larger and even more powerful.

But, I do not mean an 11-inch screen.

Something double the size of the S23 Ultra, at half the cost, would be good.

I will not pay over double the cost of manufacturing for ANY lousy product.

I paid the right price for my Note4, 11 years ago.

I was very pleased with my purchase.

But, now, Samsung can not sell to me at its present pricing.

I just wish that somebody here would know something about cognitive dissonance, which, they do not.

Please do not bandy about, using scientific terminology, unless you have actually studied Leon Festinger.

AND.....if you are too lazy to study Festinger's theories, then ....

You can just listen to Leon Russel, I guess....

Sorry to disappoint you, I am not a party animal.

Your attitude to the Chinese reminds me of WWII veterans who would never buy a Japanese import, due to the atrocities that were visited on POW's.

So what atrocity have the Chinese inflicted on you?
