Understanding-The-Importance-Of-Phuket-Airport-In-Thailand.jpg

Phuket International Airport confirmed that a single flight was yet to complete its journey following the delay of 17 flights due to heavy rain. To ensure safety amid poor weather conditions, incoming flights were rerouted to other airports including Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi International Airports. Phuket Airport Director, Monchai Tanode, highlighted the negative impact of the heavy rain on visibility which contributed to the rerouting.

During the same period, four domestic flights scheduled to depart from Phuket Airport were also delayed as they waited for passengers from the rerouted flights. The flights that were rerouted include QR842, EY430, TR658, G9687, FD3029 to Krabi and others like FD3001 to Surat Thani, WY833 to Langkawi, among others.

After the visibility improved, the airport resumed operations at 10.04am, as Monchai confirmed on the Airports of Thailand Phuket branch (AoT Phuket) official Facebook page. He also clarified that there was no flooding at the airport.

AoT Phuket confirmed that out of the total 17 delayed flights, 16 have returned to the airport late last night with only one left to resume its journey. The remaining flight, SU274/275 from Moscow to Phuket, was diverted to Suvarnabhumi Airport due to the extreme weather and was planned to continue its journey to Phuket today. The flight crew delay was because of the need for crew rest.
